D&D 4E Has the 4E Announcement Changed Your Buying Plans?

I was planning on picking up some of the 3.5 books that interested me but that I missed when they first came out, like Heroes of Horror, and perhaps Expedition to Ravenloft, and Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, and I wasn't sure about Elder Evils or Exemplars of Evil, but I may have checked them out, as well as seeing what was in the Rules Compendium . . . I'm pretty much done with every 3.5 product now though, except for A Grand History of the Realms, which is, as was mentioned "edition proof."

However, this whole thing did make me curious enough to pick up the Star Wars Saga Edition, and I was actually pretty happy with how it looks so far (enough so that I wish I could wrangle a group to play this on top of my regular D&D group on Thursdays).

Well, I wasn't really planning on getting any of the Complete books or the horribley edited Spell compendium (or any other compendiums for that matter). Maybe the environment books but not sure. I won't be picking up anything else 3.5 (I own a few but no core for me).

I may get any 3.0 books to finish off my collection of that series. Then 4E Core for me.

I'm still planning on getting the Iron Heroes books though (I bought Monte Cook version)

Yep. I thought I'd never buy another D&D product again, due to lack of local groups. The promise of D&D Insider changes that. For 3.5 stuff, though? Still not planning to buy anything.

I dumped all the pure crunchy books I planned on getting and am instead only buying books with large amounts of fluff I want going forward. So Atlas' three campaign style books (Love & War, Crime & Punishment, Dynasties & Demagogues) just got ordered this weekend. The Magic Item Compendium and Players Handbook II did not.

No. I'll buy the 3.5 books that are still to come, and the 4e core books, and subscribe to D&D Insider.

I'll also buy City of Brass, and every RPG book Privateer Press puts out (irrespective of whether they go to 4e or remain with 3.5). Still undecided about Pathfinder, but I'll probably give it a miss.

That's my plan, and I'm sticking to it.

/M

My near-future RPG purchase plans were to a) get the outstanding sourcebooks for L5R 3rd into my collection, b) get 3.5 cores, monster books, GR's Advanced books, and the Compendiums.

Now it's L5R sourcebooks, laptop, hop around excitedly until 4e hits shelves. :D

How has the 4E announcement changed what you are going to buy?
Not in the slightest? :D I think that's about it.

In other words, my 'to get' list is exactly the same, and being eroded at about the same rate (always too slowly, naturally). Even a certain new edition of a certain game is, at the moment, conspicuously absent. . . :p
