D&D 4E Has the 4E Announcement Changed Your Buying Plans?

I'll definitely change my buying habits. I'll still get the Dragonlance stuff from MWP as it comes out, but I won't be buying ANYTHING from WotC other than some minis. The books I want will be available at cut rate prices next spring (just like 2e and 3e when THOSE systems went "dark").

It won't change my buying plans until next year.

I'm not going to be playing 4E (though I will get the core 3).

After that, I'm waiting until 5E. I figure that since I don't get to play much anyway, that I'll wait. Since 4E seems to have some radical changes, I'll wait until the next edition when they'll figure out and change what hasn't worked in 4E.

(And, maybe D&D is like the antithesis of Star Trek movies - every even-numbered edition sucks. ;) )

As for now, I'll probably be playing 3.5 for at least the next 5 years.

How has the 4E announcement changed what you are going to buy?
It has changes nothing, because of two reasons

1st: i just buy what i realy like and not things i maybe will used one day.

2nd: We still know a few weeks that 4ed will be released in the near future
- Wizzards is just producing cash cows
- Necromancer said it in their forum!
- Mike Mearl did publish nearls nothing since he works at wizards
So we had enough time to change our shoping customs.

I didn't think about buying it, but now I will be definitively buying Rules Compendium, as a nice closure to my 3.5e collection.

I'm buying ToB:Bo9S, that I hadn't bought, because I want to guess how it influences 4e.

Yeah, it's changed my plans. Ironically, while the news of 4e has revived my interest in D&D, I don't think I'll make any 3e purchases outside of maybe some tiles and minis. I'll probably start to thin the herd on my 3e shelf as well. I have plenty of stuff to run until April especially since Dungeon is supposed to be free online until 2008.

Yes! The last thing I bought was Spell Compendium (and Saga, but that's not D&D). I haven't actually been interested enough in any of the new products for some time (that's partly due to my current game being in the final phases, so no new stuff is being allowed in).

Now, I'm actually planning some purchases: 4e!

I was going to get the Rules Compendium, but I might get SW Saga in its place. Anyway, it has indeed changed what products we will be releasing this year.

Hmmm. On closer reflection, I hear awesome stuff about Lords of Madness - aboleths and illithids being two of my favorite monsters - so I may pick that up cheap. Wonder if there are other really good fluff books I missed.

Yep. I thought I'd never buy another D&D product again, due to lack of local groups. The promise of D&D Insider changes that. For 3.5 stuff, though? Still not planning to buy anything.

You and me both. I'm looking forward to being able to game again.

If I knew more about how 4e was going to work, I would know if I should be buying or selling 3.5e. I'm reasonably confident I'm going to like it, but who knows? it depends on, How backwards compatible it is, and if I am still able to play my favorite character architypes (e.g. gish).

For now I have stopped buying all 3.5 products and have gone back to Classic Battletech purchases.
