Has there ever been rules forbidding ranged attacks during Rage?

I loath that mental image, IMHO sneak should be done with a weapon of surgical precision.

In the 101 NPCs thread, the city executioner was a Thug (Fighter who replaces bonus feats with Rogue's sneak attack progression). A beheading consisted of a coup de grace with a greataxe using Sneak Attack for extra damage to boost the save DC.

And I wouldn't call a rock in a sock (AKA sap) a weapon of surgical precision...
