Has there ever been rules forbidding ranged attacks during Rage?

I think 'no sneaking while raging' is reasonable.

Different strokes. I think it's completely unreasonable.

When our host DM's, he implements that and "no archery while raging". IMO the raging barbarian is frothing maniac who only knows friend from foe for game balance reasons.

Personally, I find that horribly restrictive and simplistic. Sure, some barbarians would rage by turning into a frothing maniac. And some others could do so by achieving a zen-like focus, which is based primarily on causing damage and ignores defense. And some might do it by letting the demon spirits of their ancestors infuse them with divine power. Lots of options.

I also feel "any abilities that require patience or concentration" is more than close enough to aiming an arrow for an opening in a foes armor.

Again, I find that restrictive and simplistic.

I loath that mental image, IMHO sneak should be done with a weapon of surgical precision.

And I love that mental image. IMNSHO, divorcing sneak attack from specific weapons was a brilliant idea.

Anyone who has had stuff thrown at them dureing an argument with their partner has absolute proof you can use missile weapons dureing rage.

I agree with the majority, using ranged weapons while raging is ok... though none of my barbarians was patient enough to reload his crossbow.

Greataxe/greatsword raging sneak attacks? My favorite :D

Two weapon fighter sneak attacks with rage while enjoying your bard song? Even better.

One of a fairly significant number of cases where house rules rock, and the RAW just, uh. . . don't.
Excuse this silly old German dude here ... why houserules? Or: Which houserules rock?

Someone really should write up a "Domestic Barbarian" prestige class for Commoners.

"No more wire hangers... EVER!!!"

Depending, as ever, purely on perspective. Personally, I think a house rule banning ranged weapon use during rage is sucky as hell.

Which houserules rock?
The ones that make the game fit the tastes of those involved.

Banning thrown while raging, sucky IMHO.

Banning missle devices while raging, understandable.

Rage ending when knocked out, Delicious.

Critical failures with frothing maniacs going all power attack all the time, Needed.

[Edit]
It occurs to me that this singular focus sounds rather akin to what martial artists seek to attain through training. Is there a Class or PrC that allows Monks, etc to attain a rage-like state, perhaps? Perhaps it could be called Ki Focus or some such.
I recall such abilitites in Oriental Adventures. It's called Ki Frenzy, and has a couple mostly cosmetic differences.
