FYI guys...

Hasbro announced that it will webcast its third quarter 2008 results via the Internet.

The webcast will take place on Monday, October 20, at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time, following the release of Hasbro's quarterly financial results. The webcast will be available to investors and the media on Hasbro's Investor Relations home page, at hasbro.com, click on "Corporate Information" on the bottom of the page and then click on "Investors," then click on the webcast microphone.

The audio webcast platform is Microsoft's Windows Media Player.

Certain financial and statistical information included in the webcast, such as information required by Regulation G, will be available at the time of the webcast in the "Press Releases" section of Hasbro's website at hasbro.com, under "Investors."

Pfft, given the company's track record with digital offerings, I predict that they will announce that the webcast has been delayed and that it will be available as free 10 second downloads for three months before moving to a subscription model in which they make no promises on what content will or won't be delivered for the price that may or may not increase.

What has Hasbro offered digitally?

Since they own WoTC aka DnD 4e it has been suggested their work will be like the failed DDI screwup.
Oh yes, I realize the implication. I'm just suggesting that anyone who knows how large corporate groups such as this operate would not make such a leap.

Or possibly that some people don't realize WotC != Hasbro, since there is much more to Hasbro than WotC.

Or possibly that some people don't realize 4E != WotC, since there is more to WotC than 4E.

Yikes, Kzach! You're getting more bitter by the day! :p

Such is life.
"Failed DDI screwup"? I must have missed the press release where WotC said that DDI had failed and they were giving up on it. (No, because that didn't happen.)

Maybe you meant that WotC "failed" at "screwing up DDI"? Given the negative tone of your comment, I can only assume that this is grudging praise for the digital initiative, coming from someone who bitterly wants it to fail.

Or maybe you're just the sort to call a race in the first lap.

I predict that D&D will be mentioned exactly X times during the webcast, and that in the ensuing discussion here on ENworld this number of mentions will be shown to categorically prove that:
  1. D&D is failing and will soon be canceled.
  2. Hasbro doesn't even know D&D exists (and this is bad).
  3. Hasbro doesn't even know D&D exists (and this is good).
  4. Hasbro suits are going to make/have made D&D into a board game/a miniatures game/an MMO/a My Little Pony playset.
  5. Hasbro suits are going to do some other evil, heartless thing because, you know, they're suits.
  6. D&D is about to be sold.
  7. WotC is about to be sold.

Ohh please. This is D&D we're talking about. Your answer should have been formatted like this:

Table X-X Outcome of the Web Confrence (1d20)

1-3 D&D is failing and will soon be canceled.
4-6 Hasbro doesn't even know D&D exists (and this is bad).
7-8 Hasbro doesn't even know D&D exists (and this is good).
9-11 Hasbro suits are going to make/have made D&D into a board game/a miniatures game/an MMO/a My Little Pony playset.
12-16 Hasbro suits are going to do some other evil, heartless thing because, you know, they're suits.
17-19 D&D is about to be sold.
20 WotC is about to be sold.

On a serious note, I am actually disappointed they haven't done something with My Little Pony. It would have been a great way to get my daughter into RPGs.
