Hasbro Quarterly Report

O
You guys are pulling my leg right? There was a CLUE movie? And they're going to do a MONOPOLY movie?

SERIOUSLY?

The Clue movie was actually good, but it is years old, 1985. It is not the inspiration for this current bout of boardgame to movie. The studios are just out of ideas after butchering most every classic horror movie and comic book. We need a Golden Age with movies built on the talent of directors and actors, not production by committee of untalented suits.

Anyway, the Clue movie, funny murder mystery done in the style of a farce with a pretty stellar comedic cast - Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Madelaine Khan, Michael McKean, Eileen Brennan, Martin Mull... Written and produced by John Landis.

I don't know we can say "we need" such things when the corporate drek sells so well. I suspect "we" is in need of some definition - the market at large is going to movies in large numbers, shelling out ever more for the ticket and popcorn, so "they" don't seem to need anything other than what they are getting.

Hollywood will produce better films when the market demands it, and not before.

Wow...I never even heard of the Clue movie..think that might be my next Netflix night since everyone recomends it so highly.

re: dreck.
Transformers 2 and GI JOE. Textbook example of dreck but dreck that combined pulled in over 1 billion dollars. Yeah, you know there's going to be multiple sequels.

Clue was filmed with multiple surprise endings, and they would switch it up every showing in the theater. Most DVD re-issues contain all the various endings.
That certainly sounds interesting. I don't think I've ever heard of the movie before (unless the German title is a completely different one, which is sadly often the case).

I'll have to see if I can get hold of a DVD...

I didn't know native English speakers had adopted that German word for, basically, garbage. You've even spelled it correctly! Color me surprised.

GI Joe was so bad, I think they stole stuff from a dozen movies, from Star Wars to James Bond. My head still hurts from watching that "movie". Sequels?? The end is nigh...

I'm stunned that monopoly is actually being made into a movie. Clue at least has a back story (and makes for not only a good movie but also a series of who-dunnit children's books my kids enjoy).
