Haste & Rapid Shot?

Can these be used together?

From Haste in the SRD:
... This effect is not cumulative with similar effects, such as that provided by a weapon of speed, nor does it actually grant an extra action, so you can’t use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round.

Based on just that I'd be leaning towards No, but since Rapid Shot gives a -2 penalty to all shots, I think it's balanced.

I would rule you would get 3 shots at -2 with rapid shot and haste (more if your base attack >5). Haste gives you 1 one extra fee attack with the weapon at full attack bonus, but rapid shot says each attack you make is at -2.

By "similar effects," with the example being weapon of speed, read "effects that emulate haste, such as this item that has haste as a prerequisite."

Haste works fine with Rapid Shot. A 5th level archer would get (nothing else considered) three shots, all at -2 to the attack roll.
