The latest word is that the rules are coming soon, and this soon feels sooner than previous soons.

If you follow my drift.

Got it, if your drift is going in the direction I think it is. Excellent. I do hope that you guys, or perhaps even WOTC, could let us know once soon comes about, so that we don't keep posting about it. ;)

I would prefer 3rd party publishers have a full and complete set of rules to work from, rather than an incomplete pre-playtest, pre-edited version. Getting "something out the door right away" is not necessarily better than "getting nothing out the door right away", if what they get out the door early is sloppy stuff based on an earlier draft of the rules.

Bad third party products hurt the hobby in general, and third party products tend to be bad when they are based on the wrong rules set.

So I am happy if there is going to be a delay of a few months between the launch of 4e and the third party products. There is no rush in my mind. Being patient in this case gets better results. Trying to race against competitors to be the first 4e third party products doesn't sound like a good way to make quality products.

Ah, to be in the loop! But hey, great news for the big dogs, so I'm happy.

Guess I'll just have to hope that the pre-release races / classes books have enough to reverse engineer :)

I'm struck with this image of the Paizo staffers going trick or treating at WotC tomorrow, dressed up like warlocks and warlords and warmages and WAR covers, holding open their pillowcases for pages from the rule book.

Erik: I got encounter designs!

Mike: I got Classes! Dang, no ninja.

James: I got a Vrock!

Now THAT was funny!

I am less concerned about whether or not we'll have time to grok the rules and implement them in our products than I am concerned about whether or not we have enough time to solicit the books into the book trade.

I am _sure_ we'll have enough time to do awesome 4e products, and I am really looking forward to doing so.

By book trade do you mean Walden Books and Barnes and Noble, or through Alliance? If its the former, that's odd as I've never seen a Paizo product in a Barnes and Noble or Walden Books other than Dragon or Dungeon.

I've seen the Dragon art book at my local B&N.
