sorry I haven't replied, I have been ill
Sword of Spirit I often have the adventures take several days to work, waiting for NPCs or crafting or whatever the player's want to do, for example say a player wants a Ring of Protection, the merchant says "I wouldn't bring that to my shop in case someone lifts it from me, give me three days and my son will bring it here for you to pick up", now this sometimes leads to the son getting attacked and the party quest to recover THEIR item, but mostly it is a 10 minute wait for the three days to go by...
howandwhy99 I don't know Birthright, link? I don't mean the game would end but taking your guardsmen's shift manning the city's wall when nothing happens is boring (and having something happen is unbelievable), so I was going to skip that time until the next important battle, but I have decided against it because it will probably cause some unanticipated problem and doesn't add enough to the campaign for it to be worth it...
Thanks for the replies, some of the ideas are great and I will be 'borrowing' Pendragon's winter break system, at least for the early levels
