Raven thinks that the train signal should be sounding sometime in the next few minutes. Seeing that her companions are ready to pour out of the trap door, she opens the trap door and hauls herself up into the room. The room is a large, square storage room, 40' to a side. The north wall holds a large portcullis, which is open, and beyond that a set of stairs leading upward. There are stacks of crates all along the west wall, and some along the south wall. There are two trapdoors near the south wall, one of which Raven and her companions come pouring out of (the other presumably the exit point of the other ladder).

At the base of the stairs stands a half-orc cultist with a spear and bulky armor beneath his robe. Next to him stands one of the black-veiled "women" that Tali saw in the carriage. The most immediate and alarming things of note in the room, however, are the 5 animated skeletons moving crates. Their hollow eyesockets slowly turn to glare balefully at Raven as she emerges.

OOC: I'll need an initiative for Raven, and then we'll start the surprise round. Raven can start the surprise round at the top of the ladder, and the rest of you can take your actions on your initiative. I'll put up a map later today as well.
 

ooc: With armor check penalty, Anvuss has a climb modifier of -4. However, I imagine it's easier to climb a ladder than it is to climb "a chimney (artificial or natural) or other location where you can brace against two opposite walls" so perhaps the DC is -5 to -10? Or to put it another way, will I need to roll a climb check to get up the ladder?

OOC: No climb check needed. I believe that you climb at half your speed, but the party has no other difficulty in getting up the ladder (Except maybe getting whacked by badguys at the top).
 

OOC: Raven init 19+2=21. Pretty good. Raven's immediate interest is securing the exit. I'll assume it takes her a move action to get off the ladder & into the room. Since she only gets a standard action in the surprise round, this may be all she can do. If "by the top of the ladder' you mean she's already standing in the room, then she'll take a move action to move towards the North door, hopefully ending near a wall and not provoking any AoOs. As she now has a +1 BAB, she can ready her shield as she moves. She'll then go into total defence. This would give her an AC of 17 with her shield, or 21 w/total defense.
 


Combat, Surprise Round

OOC: Ok, sorry about that. The map is up. Manzanita, Raven is off of the ladder and standing on the floor when the surprise round starts. Also, if you want Raven's action to change let me know. Below is the map and the order of initiative. I'll be unavailable for the rest of the evening, so we'll kick off the combat tomorrow.

ooc: Drat! No human opponents! (Though the woman might be human... but I doubt it!)

Not sure how much movement it will take to get to the top of the ladder. Probably 10 to 20 feet worth, which means (if he's full defending) all or nearly all of Anvuss's movement. Assuming Raven moves, Anvuss would like to take the space he's currently shown at on the map. If he has extra movement, he'll head further north toward S1.

AC 21 + (4? from full defending) = AC 25
 


Raven's eyes immediately focus on the exit. She moves North (D9, E8, E7, E6, E5) 30 feet slipping her sheild onto her left arm as she moves.
