Head of the class (stonegod judging)[Concluded]

OOC: Tali and Anvuss are in front of you in the marching order, and I'm fine with just assuming you wait and climb up after them. Seat is delaying, so I don't see an issue with you going up ahead of him. So, short answer, you can get where you want to without holding anyone up. ;)
OoC: Ok, it's a little confusing, but I think I have it.

Surprise Round: Raven opens the door. Shoot/Fang delay until Tali and Anvuss start climbing. Seat delays (effectively waving the warforged and the wolf in front of him), so Shoot/Fang don't bother delaying until after Seat goes. They spend the whole surprise round climbing the ladder and don't quite make it all the way up. No wolves get summoned.

Round 1: Raven, Tali, and Anvuss are already "upstairs". Shoot/Fang finish climbing up and are ahead of Seat in the initiative order anyway, so he can climb up whenever he wants. Fang moves to E11 and Shoot to D11.

Is that about right? If so, my only question would be, would Shoot have a standard action left to cast in Round 1, or did he already burn 2 move actions climbing the top half of the ladder with Fang?

OOC: That's correct. That puts Shoot and Fang at just after Tali in the initiative order (which I forgot to update, I'll do that right now). And yes, Shoot has a standard action left to cast in Round 1, as does Fang to attack. Sorry about that, I realize I was less than clear. :D

OoC: Not your fault, I think it was just a confusing situation that needed a little communication to resolve. And now that it's sorted out...

IC: Shoot clambered to the top of the ladder, following Fang as he bounded to one of the skeletons and attacked. Shoot worked his magic, summoning a wolf to fight beside Fang.[sblock=OOC: ]As before, dropping Goodberry for Summon Nature's Ally I. Fang will move to E11 and attack Skeleton 2, Shoot will move to D11 and cast, and Summoned Wolf 1 appears in E10 and double-teams Skeleton 2.[/sblock]

Raven doesn't want to fight this skelleton lady. She wants to take out the half-orc. The quickness of the lady's attack surprises her. Raven jerks out her sword and sweeps it around at the creature's midsection.

OOC: draw sword (MEA), attack (standard action). Raven may want to go ahead & use an action point here. This is the first time I've done this, so bear with me, please. First I make my roll. Raven will use her combat expertise to add one to her AC, and reduce her BAB by one. This makes her forward AC 18. So her attack is: longsword +2 1d8+2. Her roll: 2+2=4. OK. Well, I won't be wasting any action points on that!

OOC: Someone, just let me know if Seat wants to interrupt at any point. With a speed of 30ft., you can get to the top of the ladder in a single move action.

ooc: I'm sorry for not explaining myself well. What I meant by "delaying into next round again" was "delaying into next round as he did the previous battle". You'll remember (or now that I think on it maybe not) that I rolled initiative poorly there too, and ended in the lower position of the initiative list. That meant that I had to (and now have to too) guess was was going to happen - that leads to a long series of conditionals in the way of I cast A but if Z is wounded then cast B instead...

To avoid that I delayed so my initiative becomes the highest in the next round's list. That's what I was doing now.

However, Seat is a dwarf and that means he has movement 20, so I don't think he'll reach the top of the ladder in one round. He moves upwards, stopping as soon he sees the skeletons.

IC:

Seat tries his best to be useful. "These are vanilla animated skeletons" says the dwarf. "They can move quickly, but with jerky movements. Wait for brief pauses between movements, then strike! And use blunt weapons, they are obviously almost impervious to blades!"

ooc: Move up the ladder and use Dark Knowledge (tactics) 'against' the group of skeletons, giving the group a untyped +1 to hit, since he gets a 21 in the knowledge (religion) check.

The next round he continues reciting an ancient hobgobling battle prowess prayer (casting Bless, +1 morale bonus to hit and fear STs)

Spells:

1st level: Cure light wounds x2, Bless, Shield of Faith.
Orisons: Cure minor wounds, Guidance, Resistance, Light.

Combat, Round 1 Cont.

Seat, partially up the ladder informs the party of some basic information and good tactics to use against their foes.

Raven responds awkwardly to the black veiled woman's attack, and the her strike goes wide as she jerks her blade free of it's scabbard. Over the black veiled woman's shoulder, Raven can see that there are what look to be two short levers attached to the wall near the half-orc.

Skeleton #4 drops the crate it was carrying (causing the many empty glass vials packed inside to rattle), and moves toward Raven with incredible speed, lunging with it's claws. Now that she has her blade and shield out, and her defensive stance set up, Raven proves to be no easy prey as the skeleton's claws find nothing but air.

Skeleton #2 hurls the crate it was carrying at Tali, but the crate crashes to the ground before reaching him, breaking apart and scatter sheets of parchment across the floor.

Anvuss steps up (to C8) beside Tali and swing his morningstar at Skeleton #1, which easily dodges the blow.

(Tali goes here)

Shoot and Fang clamber up out of the hole and Fang attacks Skeleton #2 as Shoot begins casting a spell. Fang fails to get his teeth on the skeleton.

OOC: Tali is up next.

Also, I'm aware that with Seat's action that puts him on the ladder at the same time as everyone else. Let's go ahead and just ignore how difficult that would be and continue. I don't want to get hung up on getting folks into the room, so by the end of Shoo't action on Round 1, Seat will be mostly up the ladder (and have used his Knowledge ability), and Shoot and Fang will be up in their desired positions. In short, we'll handwave that bit of difficulty and move on, unless there is an objection.

Also, don't forget to add the +1 to attack from Seat. It wouldn't have made a difference in anyone's attack roll so far, but every little bit helps.

Combat, Round 2

Tali tumbles behind Skeleton #1, who swings clumsily at him and misses. Tali drives his mindblade home, but it simply scracthes bone. (OOC: From what I can tell, your mindblade does slashing damage, so the skeleton's DR applies. There are, however, two foes in the room who don't have DR.)

Skeleton #5 charges Anvuss, it's claws screeching along his composite plating, but failing to cause any damage.

The veil around the black veiled woman's neck undulates and a horrible shriek emanates from under it. The sound echoes off the walls, and causes minor stabbing pain all the way to the bone. (OOC: Everyone (including Fang) except Anvuss and Shoot need to make a DC 12 Fortitude save or be paralyzed for 2d4 rounds (or until you are attacked by the creature that paralyzed you).)

The half-orc cultist shakes the surprise from his face in time to clamp a hand over one ear and grimaces with pain at the shriek, but he shrugs it off. With a slightly panicked look at Raven, he hefts his spear, and pushes the black veiled woman into the room before stepping back to his post by the stairs. The black veiled woman's head wobbles back and forth on her body as though it is barely attached. (OOC: The black veiled woman provokes an AoO from Raven, as does the half-orc when he steps back. Should Raven think of it, the black veiled woman's head also provokes an AoO.)

Skeleton #3 sets down the crate it was carrying and starts to circle around Fang (moving to E9).

OOC: Seat is up next, provided he passed his Fort save.

Seat has no problem shrugging off the effects of the creature's scream. Seeing how the party is following his advice, he decides to enhance it with an old battle prowess spell to an ancient hobgoblin deity.

ooc: Seat should be at C12. He casts Bless. The party now adds +2 to hit the skeletons, and +1 to hit everything else.
