Heads up: Baldur's Gate II patches 2007

Spoilers Galore

I ran into a problem with BG + TotSC, in which I had
killed the leaders of the Iron Throne
, but when I went to talk to the sheriff, the game wouldn't progress.

I wonder if it's a problem in that everyone's maxed out on XPs. I don't know for sure. Has anyone had any other trouble? I'm waiting on an account with Bioware so I can talk to the support forums there, but I was wondering if anyone here had ever encountered that.

Still, all the Baldur's Gates are wonderful games. I'm frustrated now because my integrated graphics card (ATI Radeon Xpress 200) won't support KotOR -- it crashes on startup. Grrr! I don't really want to pay for a new graphics card for my brand! New! Computer, but I've got plenty of other games to play.

DVD re-release

Anyone checked out the dvd re-release, yet? I am considering buying it just to avoid the endless disk swapping and its only 10 british pounds over here. Does it put everything on the one DVD or is there still swapping about to do?

It is one DVD.

I sure love to swap Discs 2 and 3 all the time, though. What a grand idea. </sarcasm>

Was there something you forgot to give him? A journal, or something? I forget, as I've only played through the game once and on my re-play, I'm just at the Bandit Camp presently.

I've never heard of any problems with the leval cap and progression bugs. The cap shouldn't make a difference. And doesn't TOTSC raise the cap somewhat?

Dear God I wish there was a BG3 in the works. The whole series brought me back to gaming after a fifteen year hiatus.

Word.

Me, too. And one of my friends. I think BG2 is entirely responsible for my interest in 3.0, which came along at exactly the right time (i.e. when I got bored playing BG2).

Cheers, -- N

You guys should check out some of the various mods for BG2. Some are good, some are bad. I personally can't get past the poor grammar in some of them, but some only have the occasional error. My favorite is Classic Adventures which incorporates The Sunless Citadel, Saltmarsh, and ambitiously hopes to do GDQ, the A series and others eventually. You can learn more here: http://ca.spellholdstudios.net/

I liked this one, but there were quite a few broken continuity threads (like when I dropped the kobold from the party) and too many instant death traps or situations.

If you do a full install, you only need one disc, and can remove it once the game actually starts.

From 89,000 to 161,000.

Some great mods are the banter packs. Get some talky NPCs with this thing and you'll have a blast! (Minsc and Jan are great in any party, and stick Mazzy and Korgan together for a real hoot! -- although they're great even without the mod).

I enjoyed easyTutu a whole lot -- it allows you to play BG1 in BG2's format (faster walking, better graphics, kits, ect.).

EDIT: I had never heard of this spellhold studios mod before, and I'm a very active member (reading anyway) in a few cRPG forums. After I complete IWD2 (haven't finished Heart of Fury mode yet), I'm going to give this a go! It's not even BG anymore! It's like getting a brand new game! I'm so nerdy psyched it's not even funny!

Yeah, I got past that one, though. I played it until the lizardmen with a bazillion attacks a round and the traps in their stronghold annoyed me too much. I may finish it some other time.
