Healer Feat. Question.

Healer Feat has two abilities the first allows you to put a creature to 1hp when you use a charge from a Healer's kit to stabilize it.The second allows you to use a charge from a Healers Kit and as an Action heal 1d6+4 to a creature.My question, why would you EVER use the first ability over the second? It seems a rather defunct ability considering how powerful the second is.

The character upon whom the healer kit was used to heal 1d6+4 hit points has to rest before it can be used in this fashion again. So if the character has received such healing and gets knocked to 0 hp before a rest, then he or she get the benefit again and the first feature is more attractive.
