Not a bad idea actually. It is really little different from the concept of taking 20 vs simply rolling until you get a 20 on a skill check with no repercussions for failure.![]()
Well I'm the DM of KotS right now and the players are about to enter the room where Kalarel is busy doing his stuff. At this point in the adventure I disallow extended rests since time is critical here. Kalarel is very close to completing his ritual. My players can't waste any more time here (they already had a few extended rests while in the keep).
