Is there a set rate that Elementals (ie. Earth, air etc...) regain lost hp?? Also while Im here.. If an NPC got polymorphed into an elemental, how should I handle future advancement in the fighter class for him... He is a Med Earth Elemental 4hd ..... Should he advance in size or class and abilities??? Got more questions following......

Eagerly awaiting the Wisdom of the masses........

hmm, that is an interesting question. I would say go with the normal rate of healing when within their environment- fire elemental being in a fire.

I am tempted to say they don't heal outside of their plane, but that may be too much.

Well, adjust his ECL for being an elemental (I am not sure what that is, sorry.), and then just advance them as you would any other race.

There has been no evidence, that I am aware of, that smaller elementals grow into bigger ones. :) Especially when outside of their plane.

I believe the most current version of polymorph other only allows you to polymorph a creature into an elemental if it is already of the elemental type.

Elementals are living creatures (just like outsiders), so they heal 1 hp/HD if they rest (1.5 hp/HD for complete rest). I'd rule they can't rest on an opposite plane (eg a water elemental can't rest on the Plane of Fire).

In order to heal, you may need to "eat" - very easy for an air or earth elemental.

I have a similar problem in my current game.

The dwarven cleric got a Fire Elemental using a scroll of Lesser planar ally...

The elemental got badly hurt by "ice" minotaur figthers that were garding a white dragon's lair.

Now the cleric wants to know if he can cure it or give it a cure potion.

Elementals have a Con score, and are living creatures. They are not undead, nor are they constructs. Yes, you can cast Cure x on them.

I don't know if they can drink a potion (eg the potion burns up if used by a Fire Elemental, falls out of an air elemental, etc).
