Healthy snacks & drinks for gaming?

Side note: pretzel bread is one of the most awesome things to make a sandwich with.* When I lived in Germany, we used to get ham & Swiss sandwiches on that stuff all the damn time.

(Pardon me for having a flashback induced drool...)

Here's an oddball suggestion for you:

Lowrey&#39s Bacon Curls Microwave Pork Rinds, Original, 1.75-Ounce Packages (Pack of 18): Amazon.com: Grocery & Gourmet Food

Don't laugh. They're surprisingly good. The whole bag is, like, 200 calories. If you're watching carbs, there isn't a single gram in them. Only drawback is they have a fair amount of salt.

Did I mention they're surprisingly good? And good with dip, too.

When I first realized that eating potato chips and drinking huge amounts of soda when gaming was probably not a great idea for my health, I started buying puffed rice cakes as an healthier alternative to chips and unsweetened flavored seltzer water instead of soda. That really helped me control my caloric intake on game nights. Just make sure that the seltzer that you buy is sodium free if you're worried about that.

Here's one:

If you like to make things like tuna salad or chicken salad, etc., with recipes that involve lots of mayonnaise, try substituting plain yoghurt for about 1/3 to 1/2 of it. The color and texture are similar, the tartness of the yoghurt will blend well with the saltiness of the mayo (it only has about 1/10th the sodium) and it has other health benefits as well. It's a good source of calcium and potassium, and is lower in fat.

I've been doing this for years- so far, no complaints.
