Heart of Artifice: Part I--Engineered Enigma

(OOC: It doesn't matter--he's readying, so it depends on the other attack ;) If the feint is successful, since the fluff on feints is fake attacks, I'll have him believe it's a real attack and fight defensively through it :))

ooc: I'm confused. I thought fighting defensively was the term of art, possibly in conjunction with some level of combat expertise. If he's readying actions, he has to specifically state what action he's waiting for and what he is ready to do before I state my action, right? If his 'fighting defensively' wasn't actually fighting defensively, can I have the action point back?

Attack (1d20+5=11, 1d8+3=9)

Anvuss continues to miss.

(OOC: He readies the action to attack, for instance. A character declaring a readied action to attack need not state the amount of Combat Expertise to be taken--that happens when the attack resolves. Similarly, readying to counterspell allows you to pick the spell needed when the action resolves as appropriate)

*Anvuss's foe fails to make a readied attack. Instead, he waits until after the attack and then makes a defensive attack while retreating thirty feet back, provoking an opportunistic attack from Anvuss.*

(OOC: Attack of Opportunity, then Anvuss's Turn)

ooc: Where does he seem to be leading, what's the area look like, how far away is Kharas, and are there reinforcements closing in?

(OOC: He's leading around the temple. The area looks fairly normal. Kharas is quite some distance away now, hundreds of feet. There are no reinforcements in sight, at least not yet.)

(OOC: Eventually he would indeed lose line of sight, but not within one round--it would take several rounds of not being followed. The temple and the island around it are both rather wide. The arc of the circular temple that is intersected by the view point of someone this far out is about 120 degrees, so Ironwolf needs to be at least 1/6th of the temple's circumference away to be out of sight (120 degrees is 60 degrees in each direction) )

(OOC: Ah, it's a flying island. There's air, not water ;) Three hundred feet to the edge. Can't get total cover just now, but he could take it eventually around the temple or by climbing the stairs back inside the temple and hiding behind a pillar again. Current distance to foe--60 feet)
