Heart of Artifice Temporary 2--Aethelus Alone

Aethelus walks across the plank and onto the main road. He stops once out of the way and looks around and the features up the main road then looks to the sides to get a better gage of how big the docks area is and what types of buildings line the moorings.

*The main road has buildings of all sorts, some looking like taverns, residences, shops, and more. The only main salient feature is the palace in the distance. The air docks seems to have mainly flying cargo ships, although Jade's massive flying residence has its own section away from the others, prudent considering its size. There are also occasional smaller vessels. It seems that smithies, foundries, and refineries make up a significant portion of the docks area's buildings.*

Aethelus begins his stroll up the main road, finding little of interest around the docks. He'll try to take in the locales and the people before choosing any particular sight. He is in no hurry at the moment and prefers to take his time.

*As Aethelus strolls about, he sees the entrance to a large park on his left, followed by a section of buildings filled with the workplaces of various craftsmen. There is a delicious scent that he traces to a building that must be a restaurant of sorts nearby. They have left some freshly baked pies out on the windowsill to cool, and perhaps to attract customers.*

Aethelus notes the location of the bakery for future reference but for now avoids the temptation. He continues to stroll towards the palace up the main road, taking in more sights. Is it busy? What type of people are out and about? its mid morning right?

*It is past mid-morning now--getting closer to mid-afternoon. There are people bustling about, some porting heavy loads, others delivering small packages, and still others seeming on a more leisurely stroll. The people appear, like the soldiers and others aside from Jade, to be some miraculous sort of perfect construct that approaches a human in everything but name. Most of the people seem happy, and some are talking and laughing with companions.*

*As he approaches the Baron's palace a bit more, he notices the main insignia present on the banners--a Lesser Cannith Dragonmark.

Noting the fascinating appearance of the dragonmark here and in the iconography he'd seen earlier and the lack of other distinguishing marks Aethelus is curious if the Baron or perhaps some other personage in this world was connected to his house. The idyllic nature of the humanoids here seemed to add to earlier thoughts that they might be some form of construct, if that were possible. Lana's appearance was certainly as seemless as these people if that were the case. He stops walking up the road when he gets to the last line of shops, preferring to stay away from the palace gates for now.

*Aethelus stops at the last line of shops, thus giving himself the option of returning from whence he came or traveling a side alley to head towards what looks like a large theatre in the distance.*

The theatre sounds interesting so he decides to head in that direction (east? west? I know he doesn't have any true sense of direction but he'll keep the ship at south and the palace at north in his own head)

*If the ship is at the far south, the palace is in the centre of the city, north of the ship, and this turn is to the west. As Aethelus heads along the alley, he hears a soft sound of something landing behind him, and as he turns back, he sees that there are two figures that dropped into the lengthening shadows behind him, as another moves out in front.*

"Are you sure this is the one? He don't look like much," one of them says.

"For sure. He came off the Bitch's Castle, he did. You think we can handle him?"

"We've got the Dolurrite the boss stole. It'll be a cinch."

(OOC: Surprise round was spent by the enemy to move into position. In the next round, Lana acts first)

"Hey, what's going on, Boss!?"
