The demon roared a challenge in its language as it flapped its wings, starting to hover above the Charger. It ignored the yelling from the occupant inside the car and paid no attention when Evan made a break for it.

Instead it started towards the police officers, making a sudden aerial charge. It sparked a hail of gunfire from the cops. The range was not good for the pistols or the shotguns in the initial shots. The creature was not slowed down from the few bullets that hit it and was in among the four officers from the cruisers before they knew it. The creature was no longer trying to dodge the shots, but it had cover from the police cruisers as it literally ripped the arm off one man to bludgeon the other in the head with it.

The shock of seeing two of their number down so quickly from the inhuman creature caused a pause in the firing as they did not want to hit their comrades. Seeing that was not going to matter, the other two surviving fired their weapons (one a shotgun, the other a Glock) into the demon after a few seconds.

The demon was bleeding from a few wounds already and the impact of the bullets were taking a toll.

[section]Evan groans in frustration as the demon shrugs off more bullets and kills more people. However, it doesn't appear to be fully bullet proof. He casts his eyes around, looking for any sign of a weapon he could get to, be it from one of the cruisers or a fallen officer.

After a moment or two of indecision, Michael decides to take the safest route he can think of. He grabs the shotgun and moves up as quickly as he can to the driver. "Aim for wherever you think its soft spots might be", passing the shotgun to him.

Michael then raises the pistol up to the demon, aiming again for the same area he hit the last demon, near the base of the wing, Michael unloads 4 shots into the demon from behind.

With the demon in among the two police officers in the center of the roadblock, any fallen weapons were too close to the frenzied creature. The other two officers were at their car doors and blocking entrance to look for weapons inside their patrol cars.

Dispatch could be heard coming through their radios asking for an update and informing the ones on scene that backup was en route. Evan and Michael could hear more approaching sirens.

The demon ignored the missed shot as Michael fired. It leaped over the police cruiser to the opposite side, away from where Evan and Michael were approaching the fourth officer. Taking two more pistol rounds in the torso had slowed the demon’s assault on his newest victim. But those did not stop it as it bore the unfortunate police officer to the pavement.

The two were grappling. The demon had a hand over the man’s pistol, keeping it aimed away from it. The police officer was gripping the demon’s other wrist with his free hand and had a knee up to try leveraging the winged creature’s teeth away from ripping his throat out. If the demon had not been injured already, the contest would have been short lived.

[sblock=GM Note]Each shot can be a separate set of dice rolls. Though, let’s not take too many shots in one exchange. ;) [/sblock]

"Come on mate, you've got 5 shells left in it I think. They seem to be allergic to bullets!". Michael didn't know whether he sounded foolish or not, but he didn't care. In times of stress he always used humour to try and cope with stress, sometimes dark humour. "Come on mate, we can do this". Michael sidestepped away from Evan, distance being an important factor. If the demon killed one of them, the other would have a little more time to fill it with bullets. Michael positioned himself facing the back of the demon. This time, he took aim at its spine. He squeezed the trigger and fired.

[section]Evan takes the shotgun from Michael, but doesn't seem to be holding it quite right. Like a man who's watched too many movies where the subtleties of actual firearm use are of little importance. He holds it loosely and aims vaguely in the direction of the demon, hoping for a clear shot.

OOC: 1d30 is the first level of training. What comes before that? 1d100?

[sblock=OOC - Evan] I believe according to the list, firearms is NOT a trained skill, so Evan can roll 1d30 without an issue. The fact that it's loaded already is probably a good thing as that means he can just point and pull the trigger.

What he might need to do is re-set the firing pin after his first shot, which will be easy to know if the gun is pump-action, but most firearms can actually be jammed quite easily in that process if the wielder doesn't have the confidence and is too 'soft' in their actions. IRL, Evan would probably have a good chance at hitting the demon with a high spread weapon like a shotgun, but he'd probably only get the one shot before getting confused over what to do next.

Having said that, this may be the perfect time for Michael to use "Improved aid another" if he is considered having it now. He may be able to instruct him to lower the roll by a tier.[/sblock]

Michael managed to put both bullets into the back of the demon, but neither was on target for the spine. A few pellets from the shotgun blast Evan managed to aim in the creature’s general vicinity put a few tiny holes into its wings.

The other officer came around to try saving the grappled man and he put a couple more bullets into the demon. The wounds all were leaking blackish blood ichor.

The creature was tough, still not incapacitated. It tucked its feet up and raked the downed police officer badly in the struggle. However weakened from wounds, it was unable to finish off its opponent and it leaped into the sky using the unfortunate man as a launch platform. The wounded officer immediately lost his grip and lay there on the pavement feeling lucky to have survived.

The demon wobbled as it gained altitude, continuing to fly up and back towards the movie studio.

The unharmed police officer did not keep firing, but knelt beside his down comrade, “Jesus! Manny, are you okay?”

Sirens were getting closer as more emergency response personnel were en route.

[sblock=GM Note]I am going to forget mechanics for now as you guys are working on Savage World sheets[/sblock]

Tired from all that occurred, Michael carefully placed his handgun on the ground and moved over to assist the injured officer "Sir, I volunteer my assistance in any way I can. Would you like me to flag down the other vehicles or assist in first aid?". Michael didn't know if the Demon would be back, though he suspected it knew that sirens equalled reinforcements and reinforcements.
