Help boost Con. to astonomical proportions?

[Edit] Don't want to start a completely new thread, but hoping to attract people for a different purpose. I've figured out how to maximize my AC now, but I've no ideas how to boost my Con. Anyone?

Continuing the discussion from So I can't fight with two-weapons?, I'm now looking for the most effective means of pumping my constution and AC to astronomical levels. We're playing in the Scarred Lands, so all non-FR Wizard's products are allowed, as well as anything with the Scarred Lands logo. I'm currently a second - almost 3rd, need like eight xp - fighter, lawful neutral, in Hollowfaust. It's a "kill everything that moves" game, so I don't need to worry about much else... so anyone want to help make a living wall? Stats are below.

Str 14
Dex 13
Con 16
Int 12
Wis 14
Cha 12

Feats:
Toughness
Great Fortitude
Iron Will
Shield Expert (DM may allow me to swap out for something else; I'm thinking Combat Expertise.)

Multiclassing really isn't an option - I don't really want to get into the DM's houes rules on this, but if you're really curious, check the other thread. Odds are I'll be going straight fighter from here on out. One idea currently rolling around is the idea of two shields - use one *as* a shield, and the other I could use as a weapon. Right now, it's not possible though, 'cause I have a cursed longsword +1 (very odd) that I can't afford - and don't want - to get rid of. Help is appreciated. :)

You can't use two shields (barring certain feats and/or PRCs in 3rd party products).

Well, actually, you could, but you'd only get the AC bonus for one of them, so it'd be kind of silly.

Ok - that rules that out. I wasn't sure, being as I don't think it was something I've ever considered before. :) On the plus side, the DM has said he'd consider allowing some equipment from Arcana Unearthed in - coughcoughDefinitiveHarnesscoughcoug - which is a very nice thing to contemplate. :)

Depends. In 3E one of the more abusive TWF builds involved a High-Cha Paladin with two shields...

High Con and High AC

Hmm Full Plate or Field Plate's a given..

Are magic items allowed? I.E. Shield of Spell Storing: Shield

Go with a Tower Shield... Enchanted if you can.

Go with fortification on your armor - prevent as many crits as you can.

Get a defending weapon, if you can.

Unless you can dip into magic items, you're a bit screwed. If you can, go with a EWP Spiked Chain and prestige into the Chain Master (S&F) PrC... Kinda need dex for that, but you might squeak into it.

Look for alternative materials for your armor and shield - adamantite, etc.

Go with the reach weapon and tripping - if you can get that enlarge off, monsters will have some trouble getting to you.

Armor of Blink would be wild, btw... every hit you 'blink' somewhere else on the field - great way of preventing full attacks :)

argh - magic, magic, magic. You said in the other thread you didn't have access to a lot of those, right?

In 3.5, a shield gives a shield bonus to AC. And like bonuses don't stack. So while you could use two shields, you only get the AC bonus from one (as someone already said).

You also don't have the min. Int score needed for Combat Expertise.

It seems you have accidently gone out of your way to design this character so he can be none of the things you want him to be. :) That takes skill.

I don't - yet. But I will when I hit level four. :)

And it wasn't so much a design decision. I had an idea of what kind of character I wanted to play, and the dice didn't agree with me. [Shrug.] I do my best with what I've got.

Can you switch stats around? or is it too late for that? With dex 14, int 13, and wis 12 you would be able to pump con at level 4 and 8, gaining the hp, swap out great fortitude for roll with it, and then get another few of them at other times!

lol.. sorry, its just the best way to be able to take hits! ;) DR 10/- mmmm.. especially if you can stack it with 3.5 adamantite armor! Full plate all the way! DR 13/- You can take hits all day!

I'm certainly not swapping out Great Fortitude - it's too useful, plus useful for a PrC I'm contemplating. However, I don't know about the switching stats around. The DM's rules are so fluid it might be possible.

This is a 3.5 thread - so Polymorph Any Object is your friend here. Armed with a single casting of Polymorph Any Object (1200 gp at your local S Mart), you can have a Constitution of 47 by becoming a Brachyurus. Armed with a Ring of Alter Self (6,000 gp for the one form) - you can return to your original form at will and retain your very large physical stats.

Polymorph didn't work in 3rd edition. It doesn't work in 3.5 either. Still, if peope are attempting to play rules as written you may as well embrace the wolf spirit and pick up 15 extra hit points per level.
