Help boost Con. to astonomical proportions?

Can you get Polymorphed into a Shambling Mound and have a Wizard friend get one of those Shock Lizards as a familiar, then pump up your Con that way? Does that still work in 3.5?

Shield Expert (DM may allow me to swap out for something else; I'm thinking Combat Expertise.)

(awed whisper:) Child of the Earth!

Yeah, Child of the Earth would be a nice feat except for the feat prerequisite of Dejy heritage... not sure how many Dejy there are in the Scarred Lands :D

High AC? Someone suggested a shield of Spell Storing with the Shield spell... doesn't make sense as soon as you can get a losy +2 large shield.

You could get Unerring Strike (KPG, 3.5 soon available as download) kinda negative Power Attack and boost your AC with C-Expertise while lowering your damage a bit...

This allows you to go for full AC with fighting defensively for full Exp AC bonus plus Dodge, Shield Specialist and other goodies while still hitting.

And if you only hit with a natural 20 anyhow, go for full attack actions with TWF shield bash fighting (who cares for penalties) at full Power Attack.

toughness, dwarf's toughness, giant's toughness, dragon's toughness. hp, hp, hp and more hp. get Roll With It (from Savage Species, as said earlier by some person who's name i cannot remember, so kudos to you) for DR (2/- each time you take it).

use a reach weapon -this means no shield, but you can swap out your shield Expert for Combat Reflexes. you don't have a high dex, so that pretty much nerfs the machinegun option...

but toughness and roll with it means that you can TAKE IT LIKE A MAN! our party once experimented with a dwarf fighter whose feats were Power Attack, Cleave, Great Cleave, lots of Toughness and Roll With It. He didn't have superbly high AC, but he was always the last one to remain standing, even when everyone else was dropping like flies.

Using a shield is sub-optimal, assuming the presence of animated shields.

So stick with a two-handed weapon.

With a weapon of spell-storing, you could gain some temporary hp by placing a vampiric touch within it.

I'm not that familiar with the 3.5 size weapon rules, but couldn't you take small versions of reach weapon and wield them in one hand (with penalties)?

Yes. The penalty is "only" -2, so when you have a large shield in your other hand you are essentially combat expertising for 2 at the cost of 1 point of damage. Mix in a magic shield, however, and you are combat expertising for 2 and trading a point of damage for as many points of AC as you have magical bonuses on your shield.

Small Lucern Hammer + Shield is a worthwhile fighting style, actually. Mix in the right feats and you can threaten at 5' and 10' by hitting people with your shield as an alternate weapon (don't use TWF - just take an attack with either weapon, as that is legal).

I'm certainly not swapping out Great Fortitude - it's too useful, plus useful for a PrC I'm contemplating. However, I don't know about the switching stats around. The DM's rules are so fluid it might be possible.

For the stats I was just trying to make it so that you could dump your stat points into con ;) at level 8 you will have 2 more con putting you up to 18 which nets you an extra point of fortitude and 1hp/hd. Hence the being able to drop great fortitude for roll with it (which seems more along what you are looking for anyway). Didnt realize that you had it in mind for a prc though, sorry! Hope you find the ideas you need on this thread, have a good one.

Hinges on DM interpretation of "fighting in this way".
