Help for new character ideas.

First Post
Hi there everyone, long time reader and searcher for information using this forum but first time post.
I am currently playing in a 3.5e game and players have been dropping like flies recently due to either hard fight or the person playing wanted a change (just took on a 10HD half fiendish huge Wyvern).
Playing a Human Druid right now just getting into natural spell (so much paperwork for a Druid lol).
My character is alive for now but I am looking for new ideas for a new character to have prepared.
We are currently level 6 and as far as I know we use most books unless vetoed by the GM.
Could I get some ideas on a new character for if/when mine dies? :)

There's a difference between ideas for a new character, and ideas for a new class to play. I get the impression that you are asking for the latter.

In which case the answer is simple: Play what ever class your party doesn't have yet, and whatever class you have never tried before.

If on the other hand you are looking for actual character ideas:

-A lycantrope
-A character with a secret alter ego
-A character with a tiny brain, but a heart of gold
-A character with a phobia that affects the game (fear of heights, -the dark, -water, -fire, -small spaces)
-A character that uses wild magic
-A character who keeps his class a secret
-A celebrity (local or perhaps world wide)
-A character that suffers from a terrible curse
-A character with a disability (missing an eye, a leg, or a hand)
-A character with an addiction
-A character that was born as a wealthy aristocrat or noble (or perhaps even of royal blood)
-A character that was born under mysterious circumstances
-A character that was told a prophecy in his/her youth, which dominated his/her life
-A character that has his own vehicle (captain of a ship for example)
-A character that is very forgetful
-A character that always loses all his money (either by bad life choices, or by giving it all away)
-A character that is on a pilgrimage
-A character that seeks revenge for the death of a close friend or relative
-A character that is in search of a lost relative
-A character that is heir to something very valuable
-A character that owns a castle or keep
-A character who is a war hero

Are you looking for a class with neat powers and low paperwork? Melee machine? Long term survivability? Solid contended with neat story/character potential?

I mean, there are people on these forums that can show you how to build a god on 6 hit dice, if that's what you're looking for.

A communist necromancer.
"Life is theft!"

"The workers should control the means of production. The number of dead workers vastly exceeds the living. Ergo, the dead workers should control the means of production."

"The end of history isn't just post-capitalist. It is necessarily post-alive."

I may have to steal this! It would fit right in to one of our campaigns. We're already running a mostly-goblin Communist revolution. A worker's uprising among the reanimated dead would be par for the course.

Cleric or Druid (affectionately called CoDzilla by the general gaming public) is how you 'win' 3.5 D&D. You can practically never go wrong with either/or; Cleric and Druid both can eventually get BETTER than a Fighter via Buffs and Complete Divine (for Cleric) and Monster Manuals (for Wild-Shaping Druids).

The problem, as you've already figured out, the paperwork involved with a caster. Don't even get me started on Wizards.

One class combo that I've always wanted to try is a Cleric/Warlock (Complete Wizard?). There is a prestige class (Eldritch Disciple, Complete Mage, p. 53?) that advances the casting of both classes together and can let you spend Cleric Turning attempts to change your Eldritch Blast to a heal-beam.

That's what I'd play. :)

Something I've recently been throwing at my players, is wizard/monks, who use the deflect arrows feat. They benefit from high dexterity, which also helps their armor class. Its one of those bizarre combos that I've always wanted to try, and it works pretty well so far.

So he's completely M.A.D.?

Normally Monks suffer the M.A.D. problem, in that they need Wisdom, Dexterity, Strength and Con. Now you're adding an INT requirement?

I'm guessing that you rolled stats, and had hot dice?
