Death-trees

If you check out Andy Collins forums he says that the Tree Token will only grow in the space allowed to it - it cannot be used as a cheap death effect by putting it in somethings mouth.

I've not looked that bit up in the DMG yet, but simple game logic and pricing should suggest that too.

Yeah, it wouldn't kill in someone's mouth, but I imagine a tree growing the the limit of it's evironment (your stomach or lungs) would be quite painful.

Ray of Enfeeblement?

Can any one tell me if Ray of Enfeeblement has changed at all? Is it still a ranged touch attack with a Fort save?

Many thanks

It no longer has a save; Str penalty is 1d6+1 per two caster levels, max 1d6+5 (not bad for a 1st level spell).

Oddly, it says Str cannot be reduced below one. It it's inflicting a penalty (and not draining) why have that line?

Thanks Olgar

The sentence about Str not going below 1 is in the 3.0 version as well. I suspect that allowing a first level spell to take an opponent to Str 0 (can't move, helpless) would be too powerful.

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but a neat touch I jsut noticed is that the one line descriptions of spells have little notations by them to indicate if the spell in question uses material or focus components, or if it involves XP loss. Handy, that.

This may require a long, involved response, but here goes:

What changes have been made to the "combat actions" system?

In 3.0, we had Full-round actions, Standard Actions, Partial Actions, Move-Equivalent Actions, Move Actions, Free Actions, and "Not-An-Action."

I believe in the FAQ, we are told that actions are now either Full-Round Actions, Standard Actions, Move Actions, Free Actions, or "Not An Action" (i.e., Partial and Move-Equivalent Actions have been eliminated).

Could someone please enumerate on the list of each?

Basically, "what can you do in a round?"

Not really a long, involved response at all, because very little has changed in terms of what you can do.

Each round you get a standard action and a move action. The change from 3.0 is that in 3.0, a standard action included a move, which was very confusing for a lot of people, and necessitated the existence of 'partial action' as a way to say 'standard action without a move'.

Now, a standard action does not include a move. Other than that, it's basically unchanged.
