Help me level up! feat and spell choices.

So my long term, played twice int he last two years 14th level transmuter has just leveled up after defeating a long term enemy from when she was level 3 or so. Now I have two feats and two spells to choose.

What suggestions can the good people of ENWorld make?

Now the character book is in New Zealand (as is the DM, which is why I play this character so rarely), so this is going off memory but my prohibited schools are enchantment and necromancy and these are the feats I've already got:

Spell Mastery (I know, I know)
Silent spell
Craft magic arms and armour
Craft wonderous items
Spell penetration.

Core books are good, but splats may work. I was thinking either greater spell penetration, heighten spell, energy substitution of empower spell.

Whadaya reckon?

It's impossible to say unless you give us details of your current spell selection and strategies.

If you use lots of wall spells or evocations and the odd transmutational party buff, that's very different than if your primary role in the party is buffing.

However, since you've got 8th level spells now, I'd recommend Mind Blank as your non-Transmutation choice. There's nothing like being immune to mind effecting spells and no divination ever being able to effect you--especially if you have powerful enemies...which most powerful wizards do have.

Fair point. Buffing is only an occasional thing. I do a fair number of evocations, but i like using transmutation attack spells (disintergrate and baleful polymorph). I tend to do things like scry, teleport and disintergrate a bit.

I play a fair bit on my own, as of the gaming group that I used to play with in NZ, two of us are in Australia, one is in Canada and another is in London. The DM is left alone in NZ and we all get a game in when we're home. That reminds me that one of the other feats I already have is leadership.

The up shot is that I don't buff the party very much, as there's not much of a party to buff.

Adn powerful enemies is something thais character has in spades. Good point. What do you like amongst the transmutations?

Feats: Quicken Spell is a must have spell. There is a reason why haste was nerfed between 3.0 and 3.5. Quicken spell is the next best thing ...

As a second feat, I might suggest arcane strike from Complete Warrior. The wizard's biggest issue is wasted spells. You'll often memorize a spell and find it useless during that day's adventure. This feat allows you to turn those extra spells into damage in a melee attack. You never attack in melee? You might after you get this feat.

If not those, empower and maximize are never a bad idea.

As for spells:

Mind blank won't do you wrong. The best thing for you to do, however, is to think your way thrugh your last adventure while looking at a list of available spells. Figure out which spells on that list would have been most useful. Then select them.

Just how far out of the core books can you go Olive. (Not suggesting SL stuff, but maybe Malhavoc ideas.)

I would say if you face off against a lot of outsiders or creatures with SR, Spell Pentration is worth it.

Maybe some Malhavoc stuff, if I have the PDF?

I already have spell penetration, but greater spell penetration I was considering.

Arcane Penetration is interesting. I never attack in melee (strength of 8) but by 15th level even a wizard has a BaB, and I do have a +2 dagger.

K, Well maybe you might want to consider taking an Eldritch Feat. Perhaps something like dragon magic for cool dragon spells? Or even just one of those scrying spell Eldritch Feat thing. (Name eludes me).

Spellmaster I believe is a good transmutation spell from BoEM 2.

I concur regarding Quickening. I think it is overrated at mid-levels, but a Quickened Haste is strong choice at higher levels whether you are playing 3.5 or 3.0. It will also make you popular with the meatshields.

Mind Blank is a good choice. I am also a big fan of Maze.

Mind Blank...is alright for some cases. I mean if you mind blank yourself against say a Balor, is that REALLY going to help you? Maze also doesn't always work against every foe.

Now for me, Mantle of Egregious Might along with Thief of Spells would be a good little combo.

It will certainly help prevent the balor from finding you! I think mind balnk is a must, but I'm not really liking the options for the transmutations. Poly any object? if the dex hit wasn't so bad, then iron body might be cool.
