Help me publish/sell my d20 product

I completely agree with Clark on this one. Our small press began with a lot of great ideas (IMHO), but sitting down and making those thoughts materialize is really where the rubber hits the road, so to speak. It takes a lot of time and dedication to bring something from the concept stage to its first rough draft form. Working to make your ideas tangible (i.e., in manuscript form) will show publishers that you are serious about working -- as well as creative. Best of luck! :)

Cheers!

First I'd like to echo what has been said before, I'm not a publisher though just a mere writer.. ;)..

But I suspect as has been said Publishers look for good writers with ideas..

A way to maybe preotect your idea is to post yourself a copy of the manuscript that you send to the publisher, and don't open it when you recieve it., I understand this is one feasable way of protecting what you have written but there are so many ideas floating around its not unfeasb;e that similar ideas are floating around anyway...

That, my friend, depends entirely on what your source is.

RotJ: Ewoks were pretty cool, and an acceptable alternative to the Wookies originally planned. :)

BUT, that d@mned Ewok movie was the biggest piece of tripe... :P~~~

WAAAYYYY OT:

There were actually 2 Ewok movies. And I happen to think they both had a certain je ne sais quoi. :p

The second one was just strange (although I think it had Wilford Brimley), but the first one had giant monsters! Sure, it had nothing to do with Star Wars, but it had wristbands with lights! And androgenous children!

What's not to like?

Speaking for myself, I had what I thought was a good idea for a d20 product (African Adventures). Rather than just saying "hey someone should do this", I wrote up a rough draft of my idea and put it on the web. Within a week I had an offer (from Atlas Games) to turn it into a full blown sourcebook. I'm sure other people have noticed there is no d20 Africa, and I'm sure other people thought of making a sourcebook - what got the publisher's attention was that I actually wrote one.

If your idea is for a physical product and not written material, my suggestion is to spend some money and make up a prototype to pitch to people, not just an idea. That way when you pitch your idea you can include photos (or the actual item if you do it in person) to show that its feasable. You can scan the pictures and put them up on a website, etc.

And it did not hurt that it was an excellent piece and John Nephew was very smart to pick it up, I saw the preview of it at GAMA----WOW!

Didn't the first one start with an X-wing crashing and the parents getting kidnapped?

There should be more Star Wars spin-offs.
