I have the design worked out, but I'm not at all sure how much it should cost...
Thunderbolt Turbine
- A strange magical device designed by the endlessly experimenting warmage Janeko Silverblade, the thunderbolt turbine appears as a set of three copper rods set equidistant around a series of rapidly rotating torical lode-stones. With an insulated wooden grip and elegant runic silver inlay on the lodestones and copper alike, this device allows the user to convert stored spell energy of any kind in to electric death in the form of Lightning Bolts.
- The weapon is inert until it has been primed. To prime the turbine, the user must cast an spell of 3rd level or higher directly in to the turbine while holding it - This causes the item to absorb the spell energy directly, so that the spell has no effect other than priming the weapon.
- Once primed, the weapon is capable of firing a single Lightning Bolt with a caster level equal to the caster level of the spell used to prime the weapon, and with a save DC equal to the minimum save DC for a spell of the level used to prime the weapon. The turbine is a spell trigger item that requires Lightning Bolt to be used.
- For example, Janeko, who has a caster level of 13, holds the weapon and casts Tongues directly in to it, priming it for battle. The weapon will fire a 10d6 lightning bolt with a save DC of 14, the minimum for a 3rd level spell. If he had used a Greater Teleport, the save DC would be 20, the minimum for a 7th level spell.
I'm thinking it should cost (3rd level spell) x (5th level minimum caster level) x (Janeko's Constant), or 15 times 500 gold pieces for 7500 gp market price. I'm not sure about Janeko's Constant, though. Any advice?
