Help on monster

I'm creating a much larger version of the Dryad for those monstrously large trees (Sequoias, Shermens).

My first concern is that I want it to be a melee monster but what weapons do fey use? Also what to call it? Red wood dryad might be good but I don't want to limit it to just one "breed" of tree. Also what kind of Special attacks does this kind of melee attack use? Should they just rely on strength and HP to win? Should it be a melee character?

Easy. They use the forest. Their melee weapon is a club that acts as a shilleagh while it's being held by a sequoia dryad (or whatever you end up calling them). They can animate trees like ents can, and have access to plant growth, entangle and control plants spell-like abilities.

Demiurge out.

I have them with a great club, thati s a supreme idea on the shilleagh. I was going to include some spell like abilities, but I had hoped it would be more a fighter then a spall caster.

If it's bigger than Large, give it trample. :]

Feats are your friends for melee heavy hitters. Awesome Blow seems appropriate for batting little people with its tree-club. Power Attack is good one. Since fey have poor BAB, Weapon Focus would help.

For spell-likes, give it ones that buff its melee abilities. Bull's strength, bear's endurance, barkskin, and true strike all could benefit this critter.

On size, if 5ft dryad comes from an oak that is 40ft high, then a 300ft+ sequoia should be able to produce a 64 ft Dryad. Good points on the buffs.

So the idea is Feys are casters, even if they are melee-casters?

Yes. Since fey have terrible HD and not very good saves, they've always got at least a few spell-like abilities at the ready. Spells that buff them and hinder enemies are pretty good bets.

Demiurge out.

Don't forget animate plants, control plants, and entangle as spell-like abilities. Druid as favored class. Woodland stride, for sure. Should have a gargoyle-like freeze ability when in the forest. For feats, Area Attack and Fling Enemy. More?
