Side Note: I'm not the DM

So my level 4 party entered a cave, killed some stuff, yadda yadda. Then an ooze cube started talking to us, calling itself Populuk. It hasn't tried to hurt/kill us yet. I don't trust it. The rest of the party decided to take it with us as our pet or something. I think they've gone batshit. What do?

This is a group issue. I am sure someone will tell you to kill all of your party. Don't. Make sure they know you are not on board with this (In character), and keep a very close eye on the cube. Also, never be alone with it. Classic chance for it to kill you, and claim self-defense. "He never trusted me, he must have been insane". Be the hero to your party. When the moment of betrayal comes, be ready to stop it.

What Lanliss said above, but I'd also add: don't go and try and kill it while everyone else is sleeping or anything like that. This is clearly something that is fun for the rest of the group, so don't be the person who goes behind their backs and ruins that. Also, it might actually be friendly and truly sentient - perhaps affected by magic or something.

Get ever more paranoid about the Cube.
Commit a crime and frame the Cube.
Watch as Cube masterfully unveils your deception with ace detective powers.
Weep that you were driven by fear and jealousy when your deception is revealed.

If there's one thing I've learned from Disney films, always trust the horribly misshapen monster, and kill the handsome dude everyone loves at first opportunity, because he's secretly the bat:):):):) crazy one.

Talk to your DM outside the game. If you as a player would have problems with the cube betraying the party, make sure the DM know this.

If your character doesn't trust the cube but you and everyone else have fun on a "metagaming" level it sound like it could be fun to play up. However, it does require the group of players to be fine with it.

Is your character a dwarf...?

You do nothing because D&D is a group game and you have been outvoted.

If it attacks, you bail and leave them to their fate while yelling "I TOLD YOU" over your shoulder.

Just make like Samwise when Frodo decides that taking a schizophrenic, cursed hermit on the quest to save the world would be a good idea.
