D&D 5E (2024) Here's The Covers of BOTH of November's Forgotten Realms Books

Covers of Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun and Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun.
We've known for some time that in November, WotC will be releasing not one but two Forgotten Realms books--one aimed at players, the other at Dungeon Masters. Thanks to Game Informer, we now have a look at the covers of Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun and Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun. The article showcases more art, and is well worth checking out--and for those who want more, the print magazine has a full feature previewing the books.

The novels seem to have more iconic villian Clerics then good ones.

If they want to go old school they could use Tarl Desanea, cleric of Tyr from Pool of Radiance, although he'd be dead by this point in the timeline. Could also use Aden cleric of Mystra, formily of Sune, but he would be dead by now too, and honestly never liked him. Or if they want to go new school, they could just use Baldric from the fallback novels, he is alive current year and he deals with most if not all the Gods so he has a broader view of Gods & religion then other Clerics.
There is Drizzt’s mother too, and Viconia - she is either dead or a villain now. But I guess you could extend the list to include Druids, since it’s a healer that’s desired. Which would give us Pikel Bouldershoulder, Jalhera and Halsin.

they look out of focus / blurry, obviously this is not a camera picture of the cover page though, so they technically aren't. The only way to really tell is that the font is sharp though...
I’m not sure what picture you are looking at, but I can’t see any blurring at all in the figures. Is your device showing a low res version?

Blur is good in art. For example, they could have used some motion blur to make it look less static, or close to the viewer blur on the tip of Minsc’s sword. Would have helped to disguise the dodgy perspective. The background has some blur, but the image only has two levels of focus, and thus lacks depth.

Art's gonna be subjective... I really enjoyed a lot of 3e art. I find likeable art in ... well, every edition; even if I don't like every piece, every edition has had a lot of art I enjoyed for one reason or another.
Well, that's not allowed! 😏
I remember when 5e first came out, someone was admiring a particular art piece and how it was so much better than that awful 4e art. Turned out the 5e picture was a reused 4e illustration!

It's not the subject matter that I dislike. It's the art style and the trade dress.

I much prefer this:

I strongly dislike the cartoonish pseudo-3D rendering style of the latter and much prefer the more painterly style of the former.

I also dislike the new fonts they're using, and I much prefer the more fantasy-themed ripped banner than the weird red gradient bar with the cut-out edges that they're using for the new supplements.

I know, I know ... don't judge a book by its cover, but D&D's art has always had a big influence on my enthusiasm for the game. When I don't like the art, it does actually make me want to play the game less. And I already have reservations about the revised game's content so ...

I'm honestly teetering on the edge of the 5e band wagon here. This cover art isn't gonna push me off, no. But it is yet another little nudge closer to the edge. I think the now-delayed Eberron book's content is going to be the make-or-break point for me.
Yes it's hot garbage! The art work is supposed to make you want to go on an adventure, to fuel your imagination...this makes me think of going to a picnic in the park and eating asparagus finger sandwiches. 🤢🤮
