HeroClix, Who is playing/collecting?

Hey, I picked up three boosters of the new Marvel HeroClix figures and I am really excited baout the game - it seems pretty simpl straightforward and fun.

I didn't get the starter b/c my friend, Ken already got one and told me not to bother and just get figures - but looking up the rules online I found that the starter kit has more than just teh rules it has some kind of battlemat and some tokens (I didn't know you needed a mat to play the game (I'm used to things like Necromunda where you just measure your movement and range).

Anyway, anyone else playing/collecting?

I was most psyched to have gotten Ultron and Boomerang. The latter because I want to make a team of classic Spidey villians (a la the Sinister Six) and the former because he is bad-ass.

I also got two of the rookie Black Panther
The experienced Captain America
The experienced Professor X
and I got Juggernaut, Klaw. . . hmmmm, who else? I forget. . .

What'd others get?

I was just lookign thru the minis that were realesed for the current set and I have to admit I am a little disappointed in some of their choices.

For example: the Sinister Syndicate has all the lame guys and members that I never even remember being part of the that group (after my time perhaps?), like Hobgoblin and Kingpin.

And what is with the vulture being a young guy with hair?

But a better set of Spidey villians to release would have been, The Beetle, the Rhino, Doc Ock, Sandman, etc. .

And their choices for the X-men were kind of lame too.. .

Wolfsbane? Lame. Nightcrawler or Storm would have been a better choice

the fiancee and I picked up a starter and a couple of boosters apiece. So far we're fairly excited about the concept. Haven't had a chance to play yet (been moving into a new house for the past week) but anticipate kicking some plastic @ss soon.

My best score so far is probably a veteran Kang. Though the unique (black costume) Electra is pretty sweet. And the fiancee landed a veteran Hulk who seems pretty well bad to the bone.

I, too, would have liked to have seen some other figures in this run (Iron Man, any Fantastic Four), but it still seems pretty cool.

Is there any interest in starting up some kind of trading pool?

I'm very, very impressed with Heroclix. The figures are nice, and the rules are fast and fun. I particularly like the rules for knockback and the option superstrong heroes have to pick up objects and throw them at opponents.

I got a unique/black costume Spiderman, Magneto, Captain America, Hercules, Jean Grey, and an assortment of random thugs in the starter set and booster I bought. The starter set is actually a pretty good deal. You get the equivalent of 2 boosters, a big playing map, and counters for objects and markers for collapsed walls. It's a pretty good deal for $20.

As for the assortment of heroes in the first set, that's basically a reality of the game's collectible aspect. They need to space out the more popular heroes so that each subsequent set has interesting characters in it. Personally, I'm really looking forward to the Punisher, the Thing and the rest of the Fantastic Four. No idea when they're due to come out, though.

You Can win a complete set

For those of you who do not know this already, Game Trade Magazine is giving away a complete set of Marvel HeroClix (See seperate post).

There is an expansion for the game planned for October that will probably include figures like the Almighty Thor! Can't have ALL the cool figures in the first release.

I'm playing

Hey all,

I also picked up a starter and some boosters, and like the others, have been impressed. I got some cool figs, like Magneto, Professor X, Wolverine, Firelord, Annihilus, old school Cyclops, silver age Captain America and others. No spidey yet, but perhaps I'll get a few more.

The game plays similar to MageKnight, but is better in my opinion. I like the Knockback rules, the items, the mat, the elevated terrain, etc.

I know they are planning a DC HeroClix for later this year, and then I imagine they'll be expansions, which is why some heroes haven't shown up yet.

I definitely recommend this game.

I'm a instant addict i've already piced up 7 boosters and a starter, got some cool stuff, vetern Daredevil, vetern Doc strange, the hobgoblin, i'm pumped constrictor made it in, and i hope i luck out and find some of those kickin uniques. I really want thanos he looks killer. Read the rules today, hope to play asap!

This game has gotten me pretty excited.

The rules are quick but have a decent amount of tactics on it and even some of the more "useless" figures (like the Hydra and Skrull figs) have their time to shine.

I believe they lightly dust each figure with heroin just to keep me playing.

My FLGS had about 3 dozen starter decks and twice that many boosters the day before the Spiderman movie came out. The 'free comic book day' they ran on the 4th cleaned them out of all Heroclix stuff! :(

I managed to get a single booster on Tuesday - got Captian America, Sabertooth, Wolfsbane and Quicksilver.

I have no idea how to tell what is rare or unique at all - but I want ALL of these things :D
