Heroes of Horror feat "Font of Life" question

First Post
I'm considering taking the feat "Font of Life" before our party goes on an Expedition to one Castle Ravenloft, but I'm somewhat unclear on how the feat works.

Let's say I'm attacked by a wight, which has +3 attack bonus. It attacks me and rolls a 19, for a total of 22, which hits. Is the Fort save DC I have to beat DC 3 or DC 22?

Neither. The way it reads, "....saving throw to resist the effect at the standard Difficulty Class of the attack" means that you get the saving throw at the DC when you have to save to prevent the negative level from becomming a permanent level loss. At least that's the way I read it. I could be wrong.

You are dead on the money.

Each monster that deal negative levels has a DC determined by [10 + 1/2 HD +Charisma bonus]

The really big problem with that feat is if the character really is getting good milage from that feat, his allies are really, really, really screwed.

Font of Life is a pretty good feat for avoiding negative levels. If you're gonna take it, Unquenchable Flame of Life as well as Enduring Life and Lasting Life.

But it only works against negative level affects.

But metagamers who have seen Strahd's Statblock like the feat.

Hey now. We're doing Expedition to Castle Ravenloft with a Castlevania-esque twist, and I'm playing the Belmont of the group. I figure that he needs to be skilled at fighting the undead, so Vampire Hunter and Font of Life are strong possibilities with the feat selection.

I've also made the Vampire Killer whip into a Weapon of Legacy. :)

Edit: Argh, I just noticed that Font of Life doesn't do anything against attacks like a shadow's Strength damage. Time to stock up on the potions of lesser restoration, I guess....

You could always play a Warfoged ;)

We actually have a player who really wants to play an Axe Armor (+1 returning handaxe?), so he might go with a warforged. I, however, will be playing a human regardless.

If you will be fighting lots of undead, you might wantto worry about your touch AC a bit. Shield ward from PHBII is a good way to get a better touch AC. ALso the armor featfrom Races of Stone is good. Invenst armor maybe? With that your tank can have touch Ac equal to his normal Ac, and best of all it works against spellcasters also with orb type spells also
