Fighting in the animal pens had devolved into small groups of combatants as the villagers engaged with the attackers. As the party arrived, they ran into a group of six of the raiders as they were trying to lead away what looked like a group of small rothe toward the river and some waiting barges. Like the villagers, these raiders had the same pale white or gray skin, though they wore Imperial colors and insignias.

OOC: You are 20 feet away from the raiders. The area is fairly open and level.

OOC: Mindra would move up, hide as a bonus action, and shoot one of the raiders. She can hide even when only lightly obscured by natural phenomena (maybe smoke?), but if she can't find somewhere to hide or something to obscure her she will try to wait until someone is engaged if she can (hopefully the rest of the party is coming along! :) ). Failing all of that she will just shoot a bandit that is not asleep.

The raiders paid no attention to Theremin’s words. His spell did a better job. Three of the raiders -- as well as several animals caught in the spell -- slumped to the ground asleep.

One of Mindra’s arrows caught another raider, who staggered, severely injured, but didn’t go down.

Sayine darted forward from Theremin’s shoulder toward two of the bandits. She breathed out a scintillating spray of myriad colors. They cried out and clutched at their eyes, suddenly blinded by the bright light.

Beturea darted toward the apparent leader of the raiders, jabbing at him with the rapier she had been given, but she slipped on some animal mess and missed completely.

The raid leader laughed, and quickly stepped up to the off balance secretary, slashing twice with his cutlass and stabbing her with his dagger. She managed to evade the slashing sword and parried the dagger, looking a bit desperate, clearly not used to fighting.

The two remaining upright raiders, blinded by Sayine, staggered in the direction they last had seen their enemies, one swinging wildly at Theremin and Mindra, though they were unable to connect.

Owyn had been in a bit of a daze all evening after the meeting with the village elder and barely did much more than make cautious small talk through dinner. He seemed unnerved that anybody could dislike him for his attachment to the empire, at least anyone who wasn't a brigand or other ne'er-do-well, and was trying to do his best not to further affront their hosts.

The next morning he was a bit slow in getting prepared for the day and had barely finished adjusting the straps of his armor as the sounds reached the group. Leaving his pack behind for the moment, he took up his sword and shield before heading out to see what was going on. The comments from the villagers stung him anew and he seemed to be still in a funk as they approached the animal pens. This ended the moment that Butrea came into danger. The swordsman dashed forward to engage the leader, (and anyone else nearby), and now he was ready to do what he did best.

"That's enough of that now, I'll be your opponent! That said, I suggest you throw down your weapons. I'd rather not have to kill anyone."

With that warning, his blade flashed in an expertly performed strike. Proving the skill behind the threat with a slash of crimson across the leader's arm.

If he can get 2 or 3 enemies in combat he will, I'd like to say he's pulling his blows but I don't think he can without taking Disadvantage or something.

Theremin smiles when he see Owyn and he greets the warrior with a nod of approval.

He then shifts his attention towards the leader, and said “You should have accepted my proposal!”. The words resonate with magic as he casts.

OOC: action: cast vicious mockery on the leader. Wisdom save dc 14 orDamage: 1 and next attack is made at disadvantage

bonus action: bardic inspiration (1d6) ton Owyn. Lasts 10 minutes,can use it on ability check, attack or save.

reaction: if the leader makes a second attack (or the first one if Vicious mockery fails) Theremin will use cutting words to substract 1d6 from his attack roll.

Owyn moved forward to aid Beturea, his longsword slashing across the raider captain’s arm.

Mindra slipped easily away from the blind raider assaulting her and fired an arrow at the raid leader, but it missed. Then she ducked behind a low cattle wall and disappeared.

Theremin taunted the raid leader.

Beturea regained her footing in the animal muck and stabbed at the raid leader again, but her blade skittered off his armor.

Sayine flew over to the bandit assaulting Theremin and blew a puff of yellow-green vapor in his face.

The raid leader glared at Owyn, the cut on his arm standing out red against his gray skin. He launched a double attack with his scimitar against Owyn in retaliation, and slashed his dagger at Beturea to keep her back. His first attack on Owyn slid off his armor. The second attack hit true, however, despite Theremin’s pointed derision. His dagger slashed across Beturea’s arm.

OOC: Owyn takes 5 slashing damage. Beturea takes 5 piercing damage.


The eyes of the raider fighting Theremin glazed over as he inhaled Sayine’s breath. His weapon lowered a bit, and he just wandered away.

OOC: Theremin may take an OA against Bandit 1.


The other bandit that remained conscious shook his head, his vision clearing. He looked around for Mindra, unable to find her, and charged at Theremin, slashing with his scimitar, slicing the bard’s arm.

OOC: Theremin takes 6 slashing damage.

Owyn smirked as the bandit turned his attention away from him even for a moment. They realized their mistake too late as another bloom of red marked a line across their dagger arm. Owyn had punished the infraction upon his challenge with a slash of his sword.

"Tut tut, I said I'm you're enemy. You'll have to kill me before you can do anything else, including flee. Throw down your weapons and I'll see that you're treated humanely..."

That said, he didn't lessen his assault, he actually struck out twice more in rapid succession.

Sentinel lets me use a reaction to attack anyone in my reach who makes an attack that doesn't include me as a target.

Didn't like the look of that first attack roll. Precision strike to add a SD to the attack roll makes it hit a 17.

Theremin reacts with instinct, and lunges at the first bandit with his rapier.

The second bandit’s slash hurt, and the bard knew he couldn’t stay in the heat of combat. He carefully moved back, making sure to avoid any blows.

As he did this, he softly hummed a war song. The music was infused with magic, and upon reaching Mindra’s ears, she could feel it’s power.

move: move 30 ft from bandits ( past Owin (so bandits trigger an attack of opportunity if they follow) & if they don’t, they’ll be at least 5 ft from Theremin)
