Hero's of the Forgotten Kingdoms class roles! Martial Controller? Why yes.

I wonder how they'll get full Controller functionality into a basic-attack-spamming martial class, though...?

I can see how it could be done with a pole-arm based fighter (since it was entirely doable in 3.x). I'm assuming the hunter is an archer, and I'm less certain how that'll work - as a class with attack powers, it'd be a simple matter of a few 'volley' type area powers and 'trick/called shot' condition-inflicting attacks.

I also see no reason the ranger has to be a BA class. It could be, of course, but there's no reason it HAS to be.

On the other hand, they could have the Scout build be a simple basic attack striker, much like the rogue, whereas the Hunter could be a more complex power-using class.

One thing that occurs to me is that there was a class in Iron Heroes that was basically a "martial controller" type. It crossed the ground between leader and controller, but basically handed out penalties to opponents, and could take note of new terrain. It was pretty gamist but it worked. That class was called...the "Hunter." And its designer was...Mike Mearls. Just some food for thought.

The character might still lay down a damaging zone and call it a trap it wouldn't be him making an attack himself so shrug might still be defined as an attack power... not an mba.

But he might have to make a mba or rba to induce movement in to a trap they have lain out.... shrug its a wait and see.

Might be interesting enough and qualify as a martial character with a mind too.
