Playing D&D with hexes makes me veeerrry grumpy. It has it's uses in many games, but not D&D.

Didn't the original post say to ignore this poll if you didn't use a grid?....Why waste the space replying. And btw the way I use a square grid.

I prefer hexes, i've seen them used in the fallout games and it works well. I'ver used them though because everyone understands squares.

I've never had cause to use hexes, not even for sci-fi games. It's more than easy to measure diagonal movement with squares by eye (counting 1s and 2s? Come on!), but sometimes with hexes you have to sort of sidewind to move in a straight line. Plus, the scales can get sketchy in a way that doesn't happen with squares.

tool of satan, just like that damned metric system... :D

Sure, it's the logical thing, science works better with it, and humans, too, so it must be a thing of satan. This statement could originate from JTC, you know
:p

After 15 years of hexes in GURPS, I've come to love Squares, as the One True Map for gaming. This is especially helpful, as we have traditionally used giant pads of graph paper from an office supply store for our maps, and DwarvenForge doesn't lend themselves to hexes at all. :)

Six people can flank you with hexes, and 8 with squares... Whether you outnumber your foes, or they outnumber you, the choice is obvious.

Would anybody please think of whirlwind attackers? You try to rob those poor guys of 2 targets (and if we're talking about the chain wielders, it gets even worse)
