Hey Morrus, when do we get The Elements of Magic?

Ah... you're just enjoying watching us suffer

Must be good to see the folks online getting antsy for you to release your work. :p

Seriously, do take it as a compliment that we're this interested without having even seen the book or a single review. Between the subject and the people doing it, this was a "must buy" from the moment I first heard of it.

Well, I didn't write the bulk of it; Cyberzombie did. I just added in a few sections here and there. Actually, the closer we got to finishing it, the more we wished we'd told people it'd be coming out in January, since as we delved deeper into the system, we realized that we could add even more layers of complexity and variety to it. But the book was already at 100 pages, and we know better than to string people along forever, so we polished up what we had and finished it up. There's still enough material for us to expand into a sequel, but it's all guru-level stuff. The current book is great for experienced gamers, and if we put out an accessory to the book in the future, it will be for the people who really like to tear systems apart and play with their innards.

And I've just been notified that the book has passed its final safety examination. We're just going to give it a quick shower and brush its teeth, and it should be ready for sale. :)

Okay, we just hit a moronically stupid snag. I told Russ (in England, where it's after midnight now) that me and our layout guy Duncan would finish up compiling the pdf, and then I'd upload it, so Russ could get some sorely-needed sleep.

I don't have the password to upload the file to RPGNow.

I believe now is when I grimace and shout, "D'oh!"

But, um, it's really really pretty. Yeah, and um, it's got both crunchy and fluffy goodness. And oh hey, I just found our first official erratum, even before it went on sale. Well dang, ain't that something.

Don't worry folks, when Russ wakes up, and after he properly chastises me, I'm sure he'll fix this in no time. It will be out tomorrow. Blame me for it not being out now.

RangerWickett -- you better check page 34 before you put it out there! I don't know if that bit of graphics over the text is just in my copy, but I don't think the paying public wants half a page of text obscured.

And if it is just my copy, I want another one! :D

You need to make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Acrobat reader. The document (which I just uploaded, thanks James!) makes heavy use of transparency effects, so if you have a version before 5.0, you might have trouble reading it.

Now we just have to wait for RPGNow to update it and approve it. It should be on sale before Monday ends in Guam. :)

Eek! Although Ranger's quite right, this wouldn't be a problem under any 5 version of Acrobat Reader, I'm glad you spotted it. They are some people who don't have an upgrade path available for their machines, and I've discovered that problems like this in versions 4 can be controlled and overcome by very careful ordering of the various page elements. Thanks for pointing it out. The version that goes on sale will have this fault corrected.

Best Wishes, Dunx.

PS. It is, perhaps, worth pointing out, however, that the whole thing will look much, much, much nicer in version 5, anyway though. Any persons with an upgrade path available should take shameless advantage of that. :)

Very seriously, thank you guys! I know that I've probably been a pain in the posterior but please know that your work is very much appreciated. Aside from my players who will be enjoying EoM being added to the campaign, I'll be thinking of you guys when I finally get to download and read it.

Get some well-deserved rest and my most sincere thanks...
