hint for new Forgotten Realms/Spellplague in Unsolved Mysteries of Dragon magazine?

A blog (forgot who did it at wizards) stated that someone at the FR forum, discovered the hint they put there, that explains how the spellplague occurs.

I am trying to find that post in the forums but am not having any luck.

Does anyone know what exactly it was?

There was an "unsolved mystery" about the name of the planet, Abeir-Toril, and why it's usually just shortened to Toril. Where was Abeir? etc.

I figure they're going to introduce some kind of companion world, perhaps, connect it to Toril in the same manner as the Shadow Weave is connected to the Weave. Spellplague brings down the barriers between the worlds and they merge together? Something like that?

Sort of like Keystone City showing up across the river from Central City in the Flash comics.

Cheers,
Cam

That makes perfect sense. Abeir is the Feywild, the place where all the elves (er, eladrin) went until the Spellplague forced the worlds to re-merge and become accessible to everyone.

Another link to the exciting blank white page post! Yipee!

Did WotC delete the post, or is it just being eaten by too much traffic? Ugh! Someone please paste it here if you can! :(

I can't access Gleemax at all today...

I finally got it but I had to be logged into gleemax in another browser window before it came up.

Here is the post in part:

My newest theory, BTW, is that Abeir is the part of Toril that had advance up until the time of the Sundering. When the Elves High Magic Ritual reached back in time and changed the way the world formed, it actually created a divergent timeline (Toril). So we have two seprate FR's, and they will come crashing back together again when magic fails, causing a veritable 'Merging of two worlds'.

With that, they can cover any changes they wish to make, and modify canon as they see fit.

Anything could have arisen on that alternate Faerûn; Different magical traditions, new or different gods, Warforged, Changelings, Elves may have been called something else, Gnomes may never have achieved a place of prominence amongst the other races, Demons and Devils may have evolved into different creatures entirely...

You see, using existing canon, one can go back and litterally 'erase' canon.

THIS* should answer some of your questions.

Also, the term was first introduced at Gencon, and Itis used in the recently released GhotR.

Basically, it is an armageddon-level catastrophe (RSE) that changes the Realms as we know it forever. What little we know from GHotR -

Spoiler:
So far, all we know for sure is that it begins in 1385 DR, Mystra is killed, Mages go insane, and Magic takes a holiday.

Scooped!

But slightly on the subject, I never did a migration and I've had no trouble accessing anything on Wizards. I did register, then have to register again the next day (this was about 3 weeks ago), but no other issues.

ere ya go...

enjoy:
