They are great. We can have a chart of a bunch of things like that, with costs and such. We can even in their brief descriptions toss in a few semi-magical properties than not everyone will notice are there.

Yes

I like Essence, with the crystals, and as an instable fuel. I think I'd like to see them as a seperate article, detailing an "easy" alternative to magical devices. Basically to make a magical device you just need a good alchemist and a good craftsman and there you go. They could also be alterative fuels for steam powered constructs. I just thought it was too large a concept for this article. It might get lost, or confused if it did not stand alone.
