I'm a book whore.. I pre-ordered all three.. just for completeness.. and so my future writing has good easy to use references.. but I think each person will find different value in the book. My wife uses it a great deal more than I do.

As for Monte's review itself, not the thread, I think he has some good points but I know we'll end up house ruling 3.5 more than we already do 3.0. To expect anyone not to change the rules or to expect this revision will cover all our issues with D&D is not reasonable..

I'm still torn on the buff spells, since in our games they have never really been abused like a lot of players do.. most of us are not munchkins/power gamers when we play.. at least not overtly.

I dunno, if you get into more then one combat a day, this could hurt. I'll see how it plays, tho I think it may get HR'd.

On the issue of the DMG, i don't think there had been a "good" version of the DMG since 1st edition. I'm holding out hope that the 3.5 version actually has some helpful info/guidence for new DMs.

and if you have to sit next to a rules lawyer, i highly recommend it :D

2d6.

Luckily we don't have real rule lawyer problems in our group.. no one get's stuck in that rut. We do correct each other from time to time but it's not as aggressive as the normal RL's are.

I don't respond well the Rule Lawyers.. they don't tend to live long in my presence..

You tha man, LrdApoc.

Stick it to those rules lawyers...

pause

Oh crap... I *am* a rules lawyer!

And Crothian - no point in going into that thread. Just getting ugly.

Hound Post # 1966 - The year the first Star Trek episode, "The Man Trap," was broadcast. The plot concerned a creature that sucks salt from human bodies. (sorry for the spoiler, guys!)

Hound, there's a difference between a discussion and a brawl.. I know you know the difference:)

I never let the rules get in the way of a good time, or a good story for that matter..

"I rush the gang bangers by grabbing the stained Table and yelling 'I just wanted to eat!!!' so what do I roll to do that?"

Hound Post # 1969 - The year Midnight Cowboy won the Best Picture Oscar, the first and only time an X-rated movie received the honor.

I hope everyone had a good time in that game, I wish the distance wasn;t so great.. it'd be fun to continue the game.. after all I rarely get to imagine what it's like to be a journalist.. let alone a Korean Gun Fu Tourism writer:)

Oh, hold on.. I am a journalist.. hmm.. well the other part is still true.

Hope Jim has a good time at ComicCon

Actually...

We may well be having round 2 of that game @ GenCon in the Little Canadia Suite.

With the same GM.

I have all the character sheets still.

:)

And I'll try not to scare anyone with my live-action playing style.

Uhmmm... I can't remember when ENWPJ3 is due out. It goes into layout on Monday.

Hound Post # 1971 - The year of the films 'A Clockwork Orange' and 'Fiddler on the Roof'. It's all about socially-conscious musicals I tell you!

Cool.. is Jim going to GenCon Versus SanD?

I have the layout blues:) I'm doing the layout work for EP now.. at least for our first book or so.. I'm enjoying it, but frustrated with my art staff in general.
