Here is an example of a sword that was written by one of my newer players (who happens to be playing a Half Dryad)
The Sword of the Oaken ( Valamanthë)
The Sword of the Oaken was created long ago by an act of bravery, and of self sacrifice by the part of the Dryad Valamanthë, who realizing the true threat of the Troll King of the Fanglethorn, gave her own Ironwood oak for the creation of the sword. Bound into the wood of the blade the Dryad chose the young elf maiden Ambrielle Aluryan of the Loëring as the first wielder. Through the young wild elves hands the blade eventually rent the troll kings armies asunder and smote the wraithen king himself in his mountain hold, driving the trolls of the Fanglethorn back into their deep rocky abodes to await again their masters returning. After the Battle Ambrielle bequeathed the blade to her daughter Elsabana who held the blade for a time before laying it into the hands of the Half Dryad Sambriyan, her daughter through strange means, and she in turn took the blade deep within the Loëring Wood, and there it and she dwelt for a pace waiting for the return of the Troll King, which had been foreseen by Valamanthë who still abode within the blade, but talking not to none but kin, and kith of the fey for she still remembered her many years as a rooted one, and felt a fondness for the Dryad blood.
It was not however Sambriyan who brought the Sword of the Oaken to pitch against the iron helms of the Trolls once more but another half-blood Symensa an Aluryan by happenstance, and in a direct line to the First Wielder, Ambrielle who was wrought by the strong son Donnal the Swifthand of Aluryan, who trained her in the ways of elven men , and thus it fell to her to bear the blade against the Wraithen King again up among the windy tops of the Fanglethorn with naught but her and the Druid Alderganst who it is written later slew with his last breath the great grey serpent of the Rumble Bog (Arcatharn the Nightwing), and who Symensa herself bore heirs of late in the fading glory of her leaves, of whose blood journeyed north to the Ides of the Thurm, and built dwellings by its shores. But it was at this time in the mountains that Symensa smote again and for what ought thought all should be the last, the wretch that lurked in the bowls of the Dhaur Uin Moar which the Loëring folk call Nothrimbor after their own language taking to heart the evils of the place, and naught did the Elves tarry their or near the ways of the dwarves who delved to deep and found what must not be sought. But journeyed they over the windy paths, and came into Calastria, and settled there among the lands thrice blessed by milk and honey, and the Sorcereress Queen Calastrë herself on her undying throne
This unique +3 Merciful, Troll Bane Scimitar of Speed has a soft golden glow visible only in the deepest shadows of the Loëring or in darkness, but which can upon a command word be set to blaze as of a sunlight spell (See the Core Rule Book I for details). The blade though made of Ironwood sparkles as though flecked with gold dust, and weights the same as doth Mithril infused Iron of master make with an edge of keenest shape. The Sword of the Oaken carries the spirit of the Dryad Valamanthë who gave herself for the safety of her sacred woods, and as such the blade carries the intelligence of the Oaken, though she chooses not to speak with but the line of Aluryan, and only she of Aluryan who have the blood of the Rooted in her veins (Valamanthë AL NG CHA 16 INT 14 WIS 14 EGO 32)
Whenever the weapon strikes any lesser or mundane metal, at the wielders choice, the object struck is effected as per the spell Transmute Metal to Wood (See Core Rule Book I for details). Unlike a normal scimitar, the Sword of the Oaken has been magically altered to do 1d8 points of damage rather than the normal 1d6 of a mundane scimitar. Once per day when the wielder is attacked in melee by an invisible creature the sword automatically casts faerie fire on the attacking creature immediately after the attack resolves. At All times the Sword of the Oaken allows its wielder to communicate with woodland creatures as with the speak with animals spell. Once unsheathed the sword grants the wielder protection as with the resist elements spell, soaking the first 10 points of cold, acid, electricity, sonic, and fire damage inflicted on the wielder. The wielder receives a +4 competence bonus on all charisma checks, and charisma-based skill checks related to dealing with woodland creatures, and a +5 bonus to hide, move silently, and wilderness lore checks.
Fey Blood Powers
When wielded by those are either true born Dryad, or half thereof Valamanthë grants them a +2 competence bonus to hide Vrs. trolls or trollikins, the ability to read, write, and speak druidic (her own preferred language), and any born of dryad blood who wield the blade may count wielding the blade as communing with their oak, or with there mother grove for the purposes of freedom of movement, etc.
The Sword while weighing like unto mithril infused steel, seems at a constant to be lighter in the hands of the rooted ones (dryads), and the sword floats upon water as its wooden counterpart. When unsheathed by dryad kin and the command phrase “Keep me from this flame” is spoken by their lips the blade grants its wielder the effects of an Aura against Flame
Within the hands of a Dryad or her Half, and the blade rolls a threat for a critical, it is treated as a critical, in addition when the Sword of the Oaken critical half the damage inflicted is returned upon the wielder as healed hit points (up to the full HP of the wielder) and if the wielder is at full HP the gain is stored as temporary HP lasting 1/round per point of point of garnered HP.
If the Wielder is of Dryad Blood the weapon grants the free use of the Mobility and Combat Reflexes Feats from the Core Rule Book I
