If you can have drinking rules, why not.

Originally I wanted a plot device in the article where BAINBRIDGE was auctioning off a "steamjack" (not intending on using that term BTW)

Edit: I was thinking about my campaign, and garworth slipped in instead of bainbridge.

Whoa...the walls are what kill you. 6000 GP per stronghold space. For this place its 138,000 in just walls. Good god.

OK, so I changed it to masonry, superior and dropped the price of the walls in half. Th elisted price was 110,000, and I ended up with 82,080. that is not bad.

OK, headed off to bed. have good one all.

Auctions:

Price sets DC/Buyers:

-0-100 Gold = DC 4, 1d12+1 buyers
- 100 - 500 = DC 6, 1d12+1 buyers
-501-1000 = DC 8, 1d8+1 buyers
-1001-2000 = DC 10, 1d6+1 buyers
-2000+ = DC 12 (+2 for every thousand), 1d4+1 buyers

-Rarity/popularity can increase item's DC.
Common = +0
Uncommon = +1
Rare= +2
Extremely Rare = +3
One of a Kind = +4

The DC set by the above chart is called the Item Auction DC
____________________________________________
-Find # of buyers, then roll for buyer's wealth bonuses (d20). The number rolled for each buyer equals that buyer's wealth bonus.

All buyers are willing to spend gold in the amount of the set cost of the item (plus rarity modifier), plus their wealth bonuses (according to the chart below).

Item auction DC = +gold over cost of item available to spend
Auction DC 2 = + 10 gold X buyer wealth bonus
Auction DC 4 = + 100 gold X buyer wealth bonus
Auction DC 6 = + 1000 gold X buyer wealth bonus
Auction DC 8+ = 2000 gold (+ 1000 gold per +2 Auction DC over 8) X buyer wealth bonus

Every buyer has available funds for the item up for auction, and a buyer wealth bonus. Buyer wealth bonus equals number rolled on a D20, Available funds is the cost of the item, plus buyer wealth bonus compared to chart above.
______________________________________________
PERFORMING THE AUCTION:

Auctioneer begins bids for the item at cost (plus rarity modifier). All buyers roll 1d20 and add their buyer wealth bonus, and compare it to the Item Auction DC (this is called a Bid Check). All buyers who pass the bid check are willing to bid on the item.

Any players willing to bid should be given the opportunity to state their intentions now.

All willing bidders roll reflex saves. The bidder with the highest reflex save indicates their bid before others. Although bidders may call any number they choose, the most common bid invrements mirror the Auction DC chart above, with a -2 Item Auction DC (IE: An Item with an Auction DC of 8 will have an average bidding increment of 100-500 gold).

After the first round of the auction, add the bid increment offered by the buyer who won the bid, and repeat the process for performing the auction, keeping th following rules in mind:

-Add +1 to the Item Auction DC every round.

-Increase Item Auction DC every time the current bid price of the item reaches another Item Auction DC price range.

-Buyers drop out of the bidding whenever they 1) Fail a Bid Check, or 2) the current bid price of the item up for bid exceeds the buyer's funds available.
