Well I just saw a shocker commercial of Hogfather live action on the ION channel. Yes a live action-action Terry Pratchett tv-movie. It looked interesting. It will be on this sunday... I might watch it :).

It played last year in Great Britain. :) The only spoiler to give you is this - it is well worth watching! :) The actress chosen for Susan is a very, very good match.

The Auld Grump, HO, HO, HO.

Yes, Ian Richarson did the voice for Death. it was a terrific production. Thanks for the tip, I've been waiting for it to hit the US.

I was fortunate that I happened to notice it while browsing the schedule to make sure I wasn;t missing something worth taping. I saw Hogfather while paging and had to go back to see if I was imagining it. Then I had to check to see if there was really anything worth watching on ION :)

That was really, really good.

It's funny, obviously though the books are written by a British author, and in British English, but I never really pictured the characters as speaking with English accents.

I'm actually surprised, given the wave of (mostly bad) fantasy movies since the success of LOTR, based on (mostly bad) novels, we haven't seen any Discworld stuff.

And I was really surprised the actress who played Susan hasn't done more. I looked her up on IMDB. Too pretty, I guess. British films and TV seem to favor "normal" looking women, I've noticed, at least lately.

I saw it last night too, only due to having seen this thread (thanks, Technowraith!). Very well done, and surprisingly good at capturing Pratchett on screen, since I consider him among the tougher authors to do that with. The actress playing Susan was very good, and I liked what they did with Teatime and Death (Richardson was an excellent choice). It was much better at capturing the humor than the philosophy, but I think that's to be expected.
