Wow, thanks for that epiphany Crothian.

It obviously is since thread title starts with "holy crap" a term people use when they are suprised or shocked. It seems to me the number of races amazes you, but it doesn't me. That's my point, the option part is why I'm not surprised.

a) is it just me or do female drow always end up being sorcerors instead of clerics?

The chicks always get all the good stuff.

b) None of this include the half elves. There's at least the half-elf and half-drow.

And half-aquatic. I didn't count those.

c) I've said it before, I'll say it again: elves can't go away for a two week family reunion without coming back as a subrace.

I thought it would wind up more like 20 so...

I'd count Moon Elf and PHB Elf as the same though. Which means there are only 10 elf species...

Which leads me to wonder, how many Orcish races did you come across?

You left out the grey elves from the MM... and possibly the wood elves from the MM, if they're different from the copper elves of Faerun (I dunno, I don't own any 3e FR stuff).

Interesting that we don't have a valley elf, either- I suspect that there is one somewhere in the Living Greyhawk material, though.
