Some guys I once played with had things called Gold Elves & Saphire Elves. I'm not too sure how they were different, though.

I'd hate to see how many Elves could be found on the boards too...

I remember seeing in a thread Reptilian Elves and Shadow Elves [Using the Reptile template and some sort of Shadow template]. The Elves recorded in this thread are all official Elves. In all non-official sources and threads, there would have to be A LOT.

In 2e, there were Rockseer Elves too, though apparently they weren't important enough to put into Races of Stone.

Older research is horribly tainted by racism (not to mention outdated theories of human migration patterns; the term 'Caucasian' derives from a time when it was believed that ancestral humans migrated into Europe from the area around the Caucasus Mts., while current evidence does not support this).
Last I saw, the linguistic data did not specifically preclude the possibility of the Caucasus mountains being the route into Europe for those people now referred to as caucasians. Where is the currently favored "homeland" of these people?[/hijack]

Halflings:
Hairfeets (PHB)
Stouts (deep)
Tallfellows
Jerren
Athasian

It seems like there were more, but I don't remember now where.

Gnomes:
Rock (PHB)
Svirfneblin (deep)
Forest
River
Arcane
Tinker
Whisper (Not sure on this one; I still don't have RoS)

You forgot:
Garden

These will be prominently featured in Bemjanin Durbin's Heroes of High Favor: Gnomes :).

Do the Derro still count as dwarves, or are they their own seperate race now?

Were the elves in Spelljammer a seperate subrace?

There was a D&D Gazeetter on Shadow Elves.

Don't forget Kender, or are they their own thing?
I'm sure that kender are their own halfling-like race. Derro were once dwarves, and then I think a later revision called them human-dwarf crossbreeds. I just think of them as dwarf-like but separate and different.

There is a wicked subrace of gnome I forgot, though. . . What are they called? They can assume giant size at will.
