Holy swordings, Badman!!

This does seem to be one of those situations with rather sticky implications. However, I kinda like the idea of the evil cleric generating wights.

Yeah, it seems rather odd that the sword would naturally create evil undead. I suppose one could think of it as an external manifestation of their internal evil's reaction to the sword's holy energy but it does seem rather odd.

However, in the hands of an evil cleric. . . now I can see definite potential for the twisting of a good weapon to evil ends. Of course, an Unholy sword would be even better for him because the evil cleric could use it to kill good people and make wights.

Good wights though? Definitely a nonstarter.

I am just questioning the fact that an holy weapon would cause the creation of an evil undead, maybe the wight created is good.

Disturbing

Make them neutral if it bothers you.

Or if you have the BOEM, substitute a Deathless creature similar in power to the wight. (Good- or Neutral-aligned, your choice.)

Baelnorns are boring.
WotC are required by law to include at least one silly and/or overpowered elven-related PrCl, elven subrace or similar in all of their books. ;) Things like Baelnorns were created (or converted from 2e) only to fulfill this quota; whether or not they're crap is of secondary interest to the designers. :D

Yeah. What's next? Good-aligned liches?

Heh. Like that'd ever happen.

Actually, if I recall correctly, it has happened in the Scarred Lands. One of the rulers of the City of Hollowfaust is a Lawful Good lich. He was a paladin in life and was turned to a lich in an experiment.
