Holy Symbol of Battle and area attacks

The Holy symbol of battle grants extra damage once per day when you hit, as follows: "Use this power when you hit with an attack using this holy symbol. Deal an extra 1d10 damage."

My question is, if the attack was a blast, would the extra damage apply to all targets hit, or just one?

There's a bit of a conflict between same damage for all, and separate attack rolls.

Just the one target. I've found that many questions relating to how effects work when it states 'attack' work better when you add roll to the end of it.

Anything in the RAW to support this? From what I can find, I'd be inclined to rule that you do add the damage to all hit targets, as all of those attack rolls are resolved as part of a single attack.

You have to go by what is an attack. Since all the rolls from a burst or blast are part of a single attack (that's why you only roll damage once) you get to apply the bonus damage to all that are hit. Now if you had a power that had separate attack and damage rolls (Ranger's Twin Strike for example) then it would be applied to only one hit.

I'd be more inclined to rule it as a Wand of Accuracy like ability.

I'd rule it as being like the Rogue's sneak attack damage - you can only apply it to one target, regardless of the type of attack.
