Homebrew: What gods am I missing?

yeah, you need a nature god of some sort. As it is most of your gods are of things people have some sort of control over, which is only half, at most, of how most peoples' religion works.

Divination/knowledge is also an important deity usually. That might cover magic.

Cities. You got noone doing cities or building unless you want to put them under art. Ditto with communication.

I am working on a homebrew setting. The people of the main area worship a pantheon of gods based upon their needs and desires.

Does anyone have any suggestions for other gods I should include?

God of Crafting and the Forge (could be the God of Learning)
God of the Hunt (if the only hunting is for sport, then your God of Battle
God of Reveltry (parties :) )
God of Magic (again, could be God of Learning)

Refer to the Seven Deadly Sins for some good Hidden god ideas
God of Pride
God of Wrath/Hate
God of Gluttony
God of Lust
God of Avarice

As John Morrow pointed out, your Home Gods can also have Hidden aspects. So you have the God of Wealth/Avarice and the God of the Heart/Lust.

As for being utilitarian, that isn't really a problem; real-world mythologies can be pretty utilitarian if you think about it.

EDIT: Last minute thought: God of Oaths and Contracts

Dualities - gods that have multiple, sometimes conflicting, sometimes good/bad, portfolios.

Life and death.

Sun and Drought.

Rain and Flood.

Bravery and Madness.

Hunter and Prey.

Sailors and Drowning.

Medicine and Murder.

Plague and Wind.

Slaves and Thunder/Lightning.

Heroes and Transvestites (really).

The Sea and Earthquakes.

Poets and Hanged Men.

Birth and Stillbirth.

Yes, these are all borrowed - bonus points to people who can name them... (Some have multiple names...)

Other common god archtypes - the Smith, Cities (sometimes individual cities), Rivers (again, sometimes separate rivers).

I recommend reading The Golden Bough, there is an online copy Here.

Personaly, I don't see why a god of death has to remain hidden. Not all death gods were evil (Osirus is considered good in fact in egyption mythology). I always liked the concept of a Neutral god of Death, simply a collector and protector of souls as they pass on into the afterlife (Usually the function of a god of the dead).

The God of Death is actually the one hidden god who straddles the line. They do have temples and a clergy, people pray for the god passing them by or for a peaceful passage to the afterlife, and that is fine, although it makes many people uncomfortable. Outside of those times, people are usually praying to this god in anger asking him to take someone from the world and that much darker aspect is why the god is overall considered hidden.

I really like the God of Revelry, thanks Lord Morte

As for opposing portfolios, I had already started that some. I think I will expand upon that a bit, although I think I may only include it in the larger description of the gods, rather than their title.

I have a lot of great stuff to consider here. Good thing this homebrew is not going to be used really soon, I have a lot of tweaking to do.
