Hope Never Dies - Part 1 : On the threshold of dawn

Voadam

Legend
Lizards in the mist

Kur goes into sneaky mode, stepping carefully off at an angle, he moves on dry firm ground only that will not betray his presence. Depending on his nose, ears, and wilderness lore, the orc maneuvers silently through the fog. He leaves the javelins where they lie, to pick them up could reveal him.

Without his clanky armor Kur is better at this type of game. First strike can win a contest like this, and Kur is ready to play.

Peregrine watches the knight stand up and issue the threat.

"No. Who are you? Why are you doing this? Why don't you just leave these people in peace?"

[ooc- he will try and stand so as to be block the knight from the girl and the farmer, and stand his ground, ready an action to attack if the knight closes in]

Saxon dives briefly again, sizing up the sharks.

Hmm, not too big, I could pretend to be one of them without much difficulty. Being underwater is far safer than lingering on the surface with a hurricane.

Saxon dives back underwater to shift his form into that of an 8 foot long blue shark. He moves about a little, getting used to his new form, then prepares himself for the sharks' next reaction, whatever that may be.

Your arm is weakened by the pain you're going through and you can't escape the other George's strong grasp.
"Oh really you won't? and how? Sending awful nightmares to the bad bad George? Show me what you're worth!"

For a single, heavy moment, everything turns still and silent in the swamp. Lizardfolk is difficult to track by scent, because their smell is not very different from the rotting mud of the marsh. In this strange silence, you hear a single drop of water falling, about forty feet to your right.

The knight roars again and makes a lunge in your direction. You quickly raises Laerad hoping to catch him off guard, but this time he expects your blow and dives under it. Fortunately the distraction makes his swing go wide too.
Another knight arrives from your right. The farmer readies his fork, taunting him to charge, and another man steps out from the crowd. He looks like a southerner, eagle's feather adorning his braids. He carries a spear with the colors of his tribe, and joins the farmer on the line. The newly arrived knight, that wears a sligthly different helmet but always pitch black, seems to hesitate for a moment.

The sharks are bewildered for a moment, the sudden change in your smell and the water getting more and more troubled make them uncomfortable they're about to decide what to do with you when the surface blossoms like a flower of fire, and a thunder echoes all around you.
Your solid black eyes are blinded for a moment, the image of a thousand blue fingers of light floating in front of you, etched on your retinas.
When your vision turns normal again you see one of the sharks slowly sinking into the depths, a trickle of blood escaping its gills.
You would expect its mates to prey on him, but they are swimming away from the storm instead, as fast as they can. Something must have really scared them, you think.

This is one savage storm, I'd better get deeper, out of the lightning's reach.

Saxon spirals deeper underwater in an effort to escape the hurricane's grasp.

George ceases his attempt to pull away

"What? Why would I send you nightmares? "

Edit:- George readies an attempt to trip his opponent (with a legsweep) if the other George makes a hostile action.

Peregrine watches the new arrival carefully, but makes no move to attack unless he is attacked. He stares down the two knights.

"Leave us in peace."

[ooc - hold action to attack any knight that attacks any of our line up.]

Legend
Kur smiles. Even when you hold absolutely still, breath held, water can drip off you if you've been swimming and betray your presence.

The orc circles around, his steps padding as quietly as Shagras of the Night.

At least three of them out there.

Legend
Kur's plan is to sneak around in the mist so his approach is from a different angle and they don't hear him coming. When he sees them he will rush up and attack, hopefully killing before they have time to notice him and react.

Voadam

Legend
Kur didn't know if the lizard men were the ones who burned the tribe's land, but he did know THESE lizard men tried to kill him. That made them his enemies right now. And they've made two mistakes, missing with the javelins and revealing their location.

You dive deeper, but you can still hear the crash of something really huge hitting the water from above.
Looking up, you see four enormous reptilian paws, and shining black talons.
Then a tail, about 20 feet long, covered with the same golden brown scales of the legs, and a black frill running all along it.
Then this amazing creature dives and in the flash of another lightning you can see it fold a pair of wings that would make up for the sails of a small fleet, and reach with its long neck for the dead shark. On its neck it's got a frill like the one on its tail, and its head is covered by tougher looking scales that end up in curved black horns. Its glowing green eyes look for its prey, and when they find it, it starts chewing on the shark like it was a delicacy.
You've heard about this kind of creatures before, but you always thought them to be no more than a legend.
This one instead looks real. And hungry.

The excruciating pain subsides for a moment, and the other George speaks with a fatherly tone.
"Because that, poor George, is the only thing that you will be able to do."
He clenches your hand tighter, but as you feel the pain returning, you move to throw him to the ground. Caught by surprise he lands flatly on his back, letting you go. The pain goes away and you can see a bright red stain on his hand and yours.
As he stands up he looks at you with a strange mix of hate and satisfaction.
"Ah, so you want to fight, don't you?"
He opens his fingers and aims at you a ray of pure heat, but as you see the air disorting around it you are able to dodge it stepping to the right.
It goes wide behind you, catching a stone that immediately cracks in a thousand hot splinters.

You don't have to wait long to be attacked. The knight on foot in front of you doesn't answer to yor plea and plunges forward. He puts so much of his weight it the blow though, so when you dodge his sword, you can easily hit him under his guard.

The other knight attacks the farmer. The peasant tries to parry with the fork, but its wooden shaft is easily sundered by the knight's axe. The tribes man thought strike at the exact moment the knight leaves his right armpit open for an attack, and forces the invader to drop the axe with a howl of pain.

From your left a female black knight and jumps down from a roof and rushes toward the girl, but she is stopped by a dart of force that shoves her back against the wall. Another man has stepped forward from the crowd behind you, and he wears the blue robes of an alsin theurge.

You easily sneak around them, and as you begin to see them through the mist, they're still looking in the wrong direction. There are five of them crouching in the mud.
You decide to jump on one of those that have still got their javelin, but unfortunately you slip at the last moment and your first stab goes wide. Not so the second though, which open up his gut, pouring copious amounts of his yellow blood on the mud as his soul flies to whatever heaven lizardfolk get.
With your left hand, you grab another one's tail, and, relying on your strenght to pull him off his feet, you make him fall headfirst in the mud. Sadly, as he tries to stand up, he finds your knife among his ribs, and quickly decides to lay down again, this time forever.
The other one who is armed shouts something at the others, hurling at you his javelin, that in the rush flies high above your head.
The last two attack you with all they've got, claws, and bites, but only manage to scratch your arms (-7 hp).

Legend
Tooth and claw vs. stab and smash. Nothing sad hear! Full attacks, trip and stab, trip and stab, taking what they dish out, dodging and weaving, striking to even the odds quickly before others come here.

Kur's blood pounds from the thrill of combat and the adrenaline rushing through his veins.

Peregrine stands his ground again, this time with more confidence. Every time another knight came on the scene, his list of allies grew by one. Apparently, he was not alone in resisting the knights.

"Leave."

[ooc - same routine, but he'll take a step closer to the little girl]

Saxon hangs in the water for a minute, watching the massive creature eat. He finds himself awestruck by the majestic and deadly creature, having only just come to terms with the fact that it exists. He snaps back to his senses soon enough, finding humour in the situation.

Hehehe, there's always a bigger fish... on that note though-

Saxon spirals deeper again, hurrying to get out of the hungry dragon's reach.
