Hot Pursuit

Hey barsoom,

I just downloaded the new version and will read it tonight, but could you possibly just give us a quick rundown of what was changed so that we know what to look for?

Geez, sorry, Jez, I only just now saw this whilst trolling for threads in which to pimp the new Hot Pursuit: On Foot release.

The changes in the revision to Hot Pursuit involved large numbers of mathematical mistakes in the examples (never write your examples until AFTER you've finalized the rules), and some outright errors that resulted from last-minute changes, and allowing Mounts to use the Jump maneuver a little more.

I have a question. I run D20 Modern, and coopted Spycraft's chase system for my game.

How different are Hot Pursuits from Spycraft?

Check the posts in the thread above -- specifically, jezter6's post (#7 in the thread), and barsoomcore's response.

I THINK Hot Pursuit provides a more "d20-esque" chase system that fits more seamlessly into the rest of your game. Chases aren't all that different from combat, except that instead of a battlemap you use a chase table.

I bought it. I liked it. Can't wait to try it out.

It gives me a great framework to use in a chase. Better than completely winging it or the alternative of calculating everything and plotting on a grid. Plus I like the manuevers. I've never reviews the Spycraft rules, but I can say it's better than straight d20 Modern rules.

I consider it money well spent.

Hey, thanks! I'm thrilled that you liked it.

Pretty much everyone who ever bought has said to me, "But I wish it had more material to cover foot chases," so before you do, don't overlook On Foot -- the new expansion for Hot Pursuit that offers new maneuvers, new obstacles, new newness for chases on foot.
