How can I introduce Warforged into my Warhammer D&D Campaign?

How can I introduce Warforged into my Warhammer D&D Campaign? One of my players is interested in playing an artificer, which is akin to the engineer career. Now, how could I introduce warforged?

Thanks,

Jay H

In the Realms of Sorcery, there were descriptions that elves had created powerful magics that actually created a gateway for their gods to visit before the great resultant destruction that followed. However in the meantime, the elves could have created warforged that lay dormant for thousands of years.

Of course, I'm not sure given the xenophobic nature of most Old Worlders how they'd react some kind of living construct walking into town. They likely think it was some demon-possessed statue and get the Witch Hunters after it. Or think it came from the Chaos Wastes.

The other poster who commented about the Altdorf Engineers also sounds like a cool idea too. At least in Altdorf, your warforge might get a break.

That's pretty awesome. You could call them "The Grudgekeepers" and have them inscribed with an ancient grudge in ancient Dwarven, with an eternally preserved Dwarven spirit who keeps that grudge going.

Awesome. I'm yoinking it for my campaign. The grudgekeepers is a well kept secret though, and they rarely venture into civilised parts of the Empire without a dwarven guide, to speak to the humans and halflings.

Hmmm ... such a guide and a grudgekeeper would make a good backbone for a "traditional" party, as they recruit other races and classes to get the grudge dealt with.

A grudgekeeper would be fully armoured at all times if possible, and if not possible, swathed in ancient dwarven leather garbs and a cloak. And a crazy hat and face mask. "He was horribly scarred in a fire, so he can't show his face without scaring the children".

Hehe, maybe like V in V for Vendetta. In a way, he's the ultimate Grudgekeeper.

One or two Sages recall that, on the first new moon following the mutually lethal battle of the 5th Ghostbreaker Heavy Cavalry and Tznathark, the Demon-God of Possession, clay men were seen crawling from the earth in great numbers.

A bit like that Emperor's army of clay soldiers!

Ok, let's put it this way:

The Warforged, as they are known, are a shunned abomination that the people of the Empire don't really know how to deal with.

The first Warforged came from Cathay. They were constructs animated by the powers of Cathay magics to protect the Emperors of the mighty dynasties. Once, a lowly vassal travelled to the Empire, and brought with him a small retinue of Warforged as bodyguards. About 10 or so.

On the way, the party came upon a chaos sorcerer who sprinkled chaos dust over the Warforged, which reacted with the magic, gifting them with sentient thought. And then they were scattered over the Old World, confused and uncertain as to how to handle the life they had been given.

And that's it. There are 10 Warforged in the Empire. They are shunned in civilised parts, and need to disguise themselves, or enlist help from others to pass unnoticed among ordinary people.
