How Come There Is No "Wish" Spell?

Glad it's gone. But then I should have known it was gone by the fact that XP isn't an expendable resource anymore. How could they make it a normal spell without making it lame? I'm perfectly happy with Wish being a special plot device spell.

IMHO a wish should be a rare and magical thing -- not something that you can plan on casting 5/day once you hit level 17.

Maybe that was okay back when nobody ever hit level 17, but it's practical to run games at that level in 3.5e, so wish needs to be fixed.

Indeed.

If you want a wish, you should go hunt a genie.

Good riddance.

I wish I had a million gold peices.
"A rain of molten gold descends on you, turning you to ash. Then it sinks into the ground and vanishes, along with any hope of you being ressurected."
I wish Bob were alive again.
"Bob wakes up as a 0-level commoner."
I wish we were teleported to a safe place.
"You're inside the king's wall safe, the safest place in the kingdom. Since it's only a 1' cube, though, you all die horribly."
I wish all the villagers were back.
"The villagers all rise from their graves as vampires."

And my personal favorite:
I wish I knew what this ring did.
*poof* "I used to be a Ring of 1 Wish."

How the hell are we going to kill the Tarrasque now?
By using the 4th edition rule for killing a 4th edition Tarrasque. Which both things so far are absolutely unknown to us all.

Well, at least that's the news, on the front page, with the following link

Is anybody sad there's no "wish"? The ultimate spell, the most powerful thing you can cast, the expression of supreme power that every wizard aspires to is... gone?

Sob.

The whole "replacing every other spell" was just kind of lame. Wish was always more of a plot device to us, so I will definitely not miss it.
